  • You need a bachelor's degree of at least 3 years in any discipline from a recognised university.

  • Your overall graduation score should be minimum 60% (for general category). For SC/ST candidates it's 55%.

  • You must have studied Mathematics either in 10+2 or during graduation.

  • Final admission is usually based on merit of 10th + 12th + graduation marks, but the basic minimum is graduation with 60%.

So in short: 60% in graduation + maths studied earlier is the key eligibility.

Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology is a well-known private engineering university, and B.Tech admissions are mainly based on JEE Main scores through online counselling.
For popular branches like CSE and AI-related streams, the cutoff usually falls within a competitive JEE rank range, while other branches have relatively lower cutoffs.
The fee structure is on the higher side, roughly ₹3–4 Lacs per year, excluding hostel and mess charges.
In terms of placements, Thapar has a decent record, with good companies visiting the campus and average packages in the mid range, especially strong for top branches.

Yes, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology does offer AI/ML-oriented options within its B.Tech programs, mainly through Computer Science–related branches where students can choose subjects and specialisations aligned with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

To be eligible, a student must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics, and admissions are generally done through JEE Main ranks followed by counselling.
The fee structure depends on the chosen branch and academic year, but it is usually in the range of ₹4–5 Lacs per year, apart from hostel and other charges.

Honestly, Robotics & AI at TIET is still pretty new, so placements aren't separate or “guaranteed” yet. Most students sit with CSE/COE/ENC during placements, and that's where the real action is.

Thapar's overall placement scene is solid though — big names like Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, DE Shaw, Zomato, Amazon, Flipkart do come in. If you're skilled, you won't be held back just because your branch says AI.

If you want a safer + stronger option, I'd say:

  • COE (Computer Engineering) – best placements overall

  • CSE – great if you get it

  • ENC (Electronics & Computer) – underrated, very good mix of hardware + software

  • ECE – decent, bu

here's how people do get the application fee waived or reduced:

  • Official admission drives / open days – sometimes Thapar shares fee waivers during school visits, education fairs, or webinars.

  • Tie-ups with schools – a few CBSE/ISC schools get a waiver or discount link directly from TIET.

  • Counselling rounds / special windows – occasionally during late rounds or category-based admissions.

  • Best bet: just mail or call the TIET admissions office and ask politely if any waiver is available for your category or score. People do get lucky.

Honestly? Thapar University (LMTSM) at Dera Bassi for MBA is decent, especially if you want the Thapar brand, good faculty, and a structured campus life.

Placements are average to good (mainly marketing, HR, ops), not IIM-level, but solid for freshers. Worth it if you're aiming for learning + brand value, not just flashy packages.

Yeah, you've got a good chance 👍
With 92.55 percentile, TIET Patiala is definitely possible, especially for branches like ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical.

For CSE/COE, it might be a bit tight in the main rounds, but spot rounds / later counselling can work out.
So don't rule it out—apply and stay in till the end.

For BBA at Thapar (School of Management), the total fee is roughly ₹8–9 Lacs for the full programme (can vary a bit by year).
The average package so far is around ₹6–7 LPA, with top roles going higher as the school's placements mature.

It's a growing program, but Thapar's brand + campus exposure definitely helps.

Tuition only (without hostel, mess, etc.):
• Around ₹9.7 L to ₹20.8 L total for the full 4-year B.Tech, depending on your branch.

Full estimated cost with everything included (hostel, mess, development, other charges):
• Most sources show the total 4-year B.Tech cost ranging roughly from ₹2.8 M to ₹3.1 M (₹27.9 L-₹31.3 L). This includes tuition, hostel, mess and other fees.

So in short, tuition itself is about ₹10 L-₹21 L for the whole degree, and with hostel and mess costs added, the total goes closer to ₹28 L-₹31 L for four years.
