Academic Performance: Applicants failing to meet the GATE qualification criteria are required to have 60% marks in a course equivalent to B.E/B.Tech to be offered admission provided there are unoccupied seats after giving admissions to GATE-qualified candidates.
Entrance Exam: In some specializations admission can also be provided on the basis of Panjab University Common Entrance Test (PU CET) in postgraduate courses.
It should be mentioned that these requirements may vary, and it is always a good idea to find the current information on the official sources of the university or call the admissions office and obtain the latest information

As comparing these colleges, overall Punjab university is better in the infrastructure, facilities and course fee. But in case of placements UIET has better placements. UIET is a government college and Punjab university is state level college. Punjab university has NIRF ranking around 100-150 but UIET doesn't have any rank in NIRF. So, I think Punjab University is better.
