University of Madras Admission Process

Madras University application forms are likely to begin soon for the academic year 2025- 26 for all courses. Candidates seeking admission to any courses can apply online through the official website of the university before the last date. The admission to the course is merit and entrance-based. Additionally, applicants must have to full fill out the basic eligibility criteria for their desired courses.

Admission to Madras University's PG, PG Diploma, and PG Certificate programmes was open for 2024. Enrollment must be completed by June 30, 2024. Admission to courses like MA, MSc, MCom, etc. will be granted based on the results of the most recent qualifying exam. On the official website, interested candidates can register online. In addition, the TANCET 2024 scorecard is currently accessible. The TANCET 2024 scorecard could only be downloaded until May 5, 2024.

To be considered for admission to postgraduate Diploma programs, candidates must first confirm that they meet the prerequisites. A UG Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent from the University of Madras, or from any other university deemed to be equivalent, is required for eligibility. 

Entrance-based or merit-based criteria are used for admission to Madras University. Madras University takes the TANCET entrance test for admission to its MBA program. The institution accepts several other national entrance exams in addition to TANCET, including NATA, for admission to the BArch program. 

Madras University MBA admission is based on candidates' performance in TANCET. To secure a seat in MBA course at Madras University, candidates are required to qualify TANCET exam. Interested candidates can register for TANCET and check out the exam pattern to build a good preparation strategy to ace TANCET exam. Candidates who will qualify the exam with a valid score will be called for the TANCET Counselling process for the final seat allotment

For PhD course at Madras University, candidates need to appear for an entrance exam conducted by the University. UGC NET/ CSIR NET qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test and called directly for the PI round. The steps to fill out the application form are as follows:

1. Visit the official website of the University (unom.ac.in) and register online.
2. Fill out the application form with all the mandatory details such as personal information and qualification details, etc.
3. Upload all the required documents.
4. Pay the application fee of INR 300 and click the 'submit' button.
5. Take a printout of the application form for future use.

For admission to PG Diploma programmes at Madras University, aspirants need to fulfil the eligibility criteria. The minimum eligibility requirement is a UG Diploma/Bachelor or equivalent degree from this University or from any other university recognised as equivalent thereto. Further, the selection is done on the basis of aspirants’ scores in the last qualifying examination. Some other factors such as the cutoff marks, the number of applicants, and category are also considered during selections.
