Yes, the University of Maryland is considered a highly prestigious university in the US and globally. It is an important member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) and known for its STEM,   Journalism and Business programs. 

As per the US News 2026, UMD is ranked #16 among public universities and #42 in the country. It also carries the R1 high research university status

Indian students should start financial planning for the MS courses at the University of Maryland at least 12 to 15 months before the start. 

This gives enough time to the students to manage the University of Maryland tuition fee which ranges from INR 18 L to INR 58L.
