It is important for the international students to submit atleast a scanned copy of their transcripts, failing which the application will not be evaluated. Once your admission is confirmed to the university for an MS or PhD course, you can mail or bring the official document to the university a day before your semester begins.

Yes, it is necessary for international students to get a student health plan. All the students pursuing a full-time course are automatically billed for this health insurance.

If you're not a U.S citizen or a U.S permanent resident and don't have English as your native language, you will be required to present scores from a standardised English language proficiency exam.

There are various other factors important than the GPA such as research experience, quality of letters of recommendation, and statement of purpose which may be evaluated while scanning your application. But as per records, the students who got admission at the university had a high GPA. It should also be noted that GRE scores are no more required for pursuing a PhD.

Many courses at UMass Amherst need you to submit more than 2 letters of recommendation, but for the majority of the courses you need to send only two LOR. For more details about the same, students can visit the specific course on the official website of the university.
