Below are the things students can do on weekedends at UMass Amherst : 

  • International students can explore the beautiful surrounding with hikes in the nearby trails like Mount Norwottuck or go for picnic in the park.
  • Studnets can visit neayby attraction such as Emily Dickson Museum, the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, or festivals in Amherst.
  • Students are highly asked to particpate in loads of activities conducted by clubs. They are also asked to join clubs for learning and enjoyment.

Some of the tips for students starting their first-semester at the University of Massachusets Amherst are:

  • Students who applied for University of Massachusetts Amherst must be humble and should interact with as many people as possible. Mainly beacause, the more people you talk to the better knowledge you get. 
  • Attend as many gathering and parties as much as you can. 
  • Applicants should avoid missing classess, as 70% of learning comes from students going to classes. 
  • Students can get invovlved with extracuricular activities, i.e joing university clubs, sports etc. This will also look good on a portfolio in the longer run.

F1 students are eligible to work on-campus as long as they maintain their immigration status. Employment is limited to a total of 20-hours per week when the university is in session. In vacation periods, students can work 20+ hours. Off-campus work can also be done but prior authorization has to be taken from International Programs Office at UMass Amherst.

UVM has always known as ‘Public Ivy’ but in recent years it is not nearly as highly ranked as it was used to be. UMass Amherst is ranking better. When it comes to living, then living in Massachusetts is higher, whereas, living in Vermont is cheaper. Furthermore, UMass Amherst is a member of the Five College Consortium. This alone is an amazing educational achievement that many colleges do not have. A comparison of UMass Amherst and University of Vermont is given below:

According to the campus data provided by UMass Amherst, the following is the division of international students among the total enrolled students:

  • From over 24,000 undergraduate students, 7% are international
  • From around 8,000 graduate students, 27% are international graduate students
