With an acceptance rate of around 18% for the class of 2026, one needs to have a strong academic credentials and good profile to secure admission here. UVA uses the holistic review process while evaluating students’ application. The university consider various factors, like grades, rigor, curriculum, and test scores, as well as soft factors, like extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

UVA expects applicants to have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their undergraduate programs. Also, applicants are required to upload unofficial transcripts of their entire post-secondary academic record to the online application that includes all of their undergraduate and graduate level coursework. Transcripts that are not stated in English must be accompanied by a translation into English.

The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia announced that GRE and application fee of $85 will be waived for 2024 admission to all of its graduate programs. Also, applicants need not submit any form to receive the fee waiver as it will be automatically applied to the application. TOEFL/IELTS is required for admission to UVA for all applicants whose first language is not English.

Applicants looking to get into the University of Virginia must meet one of the following requirements. The applicant must have a minimum 2.0 Cumulative High School GPA or High School Class Rank within the top 50% or 3.0 Cumulative High School GPA (4.0 Scale) with 17 ACT Composite Score or 900 SAT Composite Score (test optional).

The University of Virginia has been ranked #25 out of 443 National Universities by US News for 2023. Also, when we look at the University of Virginia world ranking, US News has kept UVA #119 for 2023. Whereas, QS (Top Universities) has ranked UVA #260 for 2024 in its World University Ranking. Apart from this, UVA also ranked #5 in top public schools’ category of US News.
