It is always better to have 12 months bank statement. But students can submit six to nine months statements as well. It is always better to maintain a balance from previous year to avoid rejections.

The bank statement for US student visa should include sufficient funding for international students for one year of study and living. For those who prove this funding are usually granted their US student visa unless their are any other discrepancies. Applicants should also mention about their sponsors, and how and when they will help the applicant with funding. This is mandatory for applicants as this is one major aspect of getting a US student visa.

There is no set amount declared by US government for international students. But it is recommended to have minimum USD 18,000 in one's accounts. This assures US Immigration that the applicants can afford two years of study.

The rebate on MS costs in USA depends on the applicant's application and strength of academic background. Around 20-30% of concession or fee waivers can be availed by international students for MS in USA. Apart from merit based scholarships, there are options of external scholarships, loans and grants if at all the applicants are eligible to avail them.
