Yes, the WBJEE marking scheme differs for the different categories of question in the WBJEE paper. The category-wise marking scheme has been released through the official WBJEE exam pattern. While there is negative marking in the Category I and II questions, there is no negative marking for the Category III questions. The candidates are advised to check the WBJEE marking scheme carefully.

WBJEE will be an offline test, which means it will be administered on paper and pen. During the four-hour examination, candidates will take the offline test and answer multiple-choice questions on OMR sheets. At the examination centre, candidates will be given OMR sheets and pens for the exam. The entrance examination will allow candidates to assess their understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

According to the WBJEE JELET exam pattern, the paper consists of two categories - Category I will have 1 mark questions and Category II will have 2 mark questions. Category I will consist of questions from Mathematics (30 Questions), Physics (25 Questions), Chemistry (15 Questions) and Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (10 Questions). Category II will consist of Mathematics (10 Questions), Physics (5 Questions) and Chemistry (5 Questions).

Candidates will be able to access all details related to the entrance examination through the WBJEE JELET exam pattern. No other mode will be used by the authorities to make the WBJEE JELET exam pattern available. Through the exam pattern, the candidates will be able to understand how the exam will be held and accordingly prepare for it. As per the official exam pattern of WBJEE JELET, the authorities will conduct the exam as a pen-and-paper-based test.

WBJEE question paper will consist of objective multiiple-choice questions. During the examination, the candidates will have to choose the correct answer/answers from the given options. WBJEE questions have been divided into three categories - Category I (only one answer option is correct, Category II (only one correct option) and Category III (one or more option will be correct). On the OMR sheet, the candidates will have to select the correct option by darkening the appropriate circle completely with a blue or black ballpoint pen.

Candidates are advised to correctly answer as many questions as they can to secure high marks in the examination.

• Category I - 110 multiple-choice questions where only one answer option is correct.
• Category II - 25 multiple-choice questions where the candidates will have to select only one correct option. 
• Category III - 20 multiple-choice questions where one or more option will be correct.
