The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) released the West Bengal Civil Service WBCS 2020 final result on February 2, 2023. Yes, the WBCS prelims exam is an objective type exam where the candidates are required to select the correct answers from the given options. The WBCS prelims exam is conducted in offline mode. WBCS Cutoff 2023 has been released with the result. The West Bengal Public Service Commission selected 4,960 candidates for the WBCS main exam. The Commission will conduct the WBCS main exam 2024 from August 16 to 20. The Commission released the WBCS cutoff for all the categories. The candidates need to compare their marks with their category cutoff.

This year, the WBCS cutoff was dropped further marking that the question paper was difficult to solve.

WBCS is one of the toughest exams conducted in the state. West Bengal Civil Service Exam WBCS has three stages and the candidates are required to appear and clear all the stages of the exam. The final WBCS merit list is prepared based on the marks secured in the WBCS main exam written and interview. The WBCS prelims is a qualifying exam only and the marks secured in the prelim's exam are not considered for the final merit. But it is the first stage of the exam, and it is mandatory to qualify the exam. There are two papers in the WBCS prelims exam, and the candidates are required to appear and qualify in both papers.

The West Bengal Public Service Commission releases the marks and scores of the candidates who appeared in the WBCS exam. But such exam scores are released after the declaration of the final result. The Commission releases the marks and scores on its official website and the candidates will be required to log in with their credentials to download their marks and score. The candidates whose score is less than their category cutoff, will not be declared qualified in the prelims exam. On the contrary, if the candidates secure higher marks and are still not selected, they should immediately contact the Commission.

In the WBCS Prelims Result 2024 (2023 session), the Commission selected 4,960 candidates for the WBCS main exam 2024 (2023 session). The West Bengal Public Service Commission passed around 10 times the number of candidates to the number of vacancies in the exam. Let us suppose that there are 300 vacancies in the WBCS exam, the West Bengal Public Service Commission will select around 3000 candidates for the main exam. Some important points to keep in mind regarding WBCS Exam Preparation:
1. Practice previous years' question papers.
2. Do MCQ solving practice for Prelims.
3. Do answer writing practice for Mains. The important topics given in WBCS Syllabus are History, Geography, Polity, Economics, and Current Affairs. WBCS Preparation books for Mains are:
History- Bipin Chandra
Polity- Laxmikant
Geography- Lexicon or Majid Hussain or G. c. Long
Economy- School Textbooks or Ramesh Singh
