National Eligibility Test, which is conducted by the University Grants Commission for the lectureship jobs in central government colleges, does not have Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects. This, I believe has lead to confusion for you regarding the subject. The answer to your questions is pretty simple. You will have to choose 'Life Science' as the subject for the CSIR UGC NET entrance exam. Regards.

If you are interested in pursuing Zoology, you should definitely give it a try. There are many colleges which offer financial aid to students who come form low income groups. Moreover, there are college which are reasonably priced, and are affordable. So do not worry much about the money, instead focus more on your entrance exam which you will need to clear to secure admission in a good college. Regards.
