IGNOU launches D.El.Ed Programme For In-Service Teachers

The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU's) School of Education (SOE) has launched a two year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) to be offered from July 2011 academic session.

The course is designed and developed by the faculty of SOE in close collaboration with a highly experienced group of experts drawn from the leading educational institutions in the country including that from National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE). The application forms for the programme will soon be available by June 2011.

The programme covers a wide range of areas as recommended by National Policy on Education 1986, National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education-2009, National Curriculum Framework-2005 and Right To Education Act 2009. It will enhance the understanding and competencies of in-service teachers at elementary level for carrying out the teaching learning process effectively. The programme will further strengthen the professional development of teachers and sense of commitment in teachers towards educating children focusing on the latest concerns of the school teachers and ICT in particular.

The programme will be open to in-service untrained permanent teachers teaching in primary/ elementary schools, with 10+2 and above qualifications. The admissions to the programme will be made as per the IGNOU norms.
