This Institute was granted the status of deemed to the university in the year 2004. It then started many research oriented learning programs in law. Indian Law Institute select candidates for admission to its LLM programme based on merit in ILICAT. The aspirants with a valid integrated law course/LLB degree passed with at least 50% aggregate can register to take the test. The application form can be filled out through the ILICAT official website. Candidates who meet the Indian Law Institute LLM eligibility criteria can participate in the ILICAT counselling to secure a seat. After the seat allotment, selected candidates have to report to the institute and pay the admission fee for the confirmation of seat.

Yes, CLAT is required for LLM. The candidates seeking admission to a one-year LLM course at ILI need to fulfill the eligibility criteria:
- The candidate should have cleared graduation with 50% marks in aggregate from any recognized university.
- As per the relaxation granted for these reserved categories, applicants who fall under the SC, ST, or Physically Handicapped categories must receive at least 45 percent of the total possible points.
- Individuals who fall under the category of Kashmiri migrants are required to have obtained a minimum of 40% of the possible points in the qualifying degree exam.
At the postgraduate level, the Indian Law Institute Delhi offers a one-year LLM course to students. The university also provides PhD, one-year PG Diploma, and other certificate courses to students. There are a total of two certificate courses provided by the university, namely a Certificate Course in Cyber Laws and a Certificate Course in IPR.
