KL University PhD Eligibility & Highlights 2025

KL University offers a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in both full-time and part-time modes. The minimum duration of the programme is three years for full-time and four years for part-time mode. The maximum time for the completion of the full-time programme is five years. The applications are processed twice a year during June and December. The admission procedure is as notified by the KLEF from time to time. Candidates with a Master's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university can apply for admission to this programme at the university.

Eligibility

Engineering:

Master's degree in Engineering or Technology (MTech/ME)/ MTech By Research or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.75 CGPA (5% relaxation for SC/ST/ Differently Abled category candidates)

Top 100 GATE rank holders with BTech/BE or equivalent degree with a minimum of 8.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale

Sciences/ Management/ Humanities:

Master's degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 6.25 CGPA or 55% aggregate from any UGC-recognised university

Law:

Master's degree in Law with a minimum of 55% aggregate from a recognised university

Entrance Exam score and Personal Interview

UGC- NET/ CSIR (JRF)/ SLET/ GATE

Exemption from the test: MPhil degree holders/ Scientists in Govt. organisations & research labs with a minimum of 5-year work experience
