Patna University has a total of 10 constituent colleges. Patna University through its 31 departments, constituent colleges and 4 other institutes offers a wide array of UG, PG, diploma, certificate and doctoral level programmes in the fields of Science, Education, Humanities, Law, Commerce, and many other streams. Candidates need to complete Class 12 to apply for UG programmes. A minimum of graduation is required to apply for PG programmes. 

For getting into Patna University, candidates will need to first apply for the course of their choice. For most of the courses, admission is through Patna University Common Entrance Test (PUCET). The difficulty level of the entrance exam is medium. Aspirants need to go through their Class 11 and Class 12 textbooks for UG courses. For PG programmes, candidates must be well through their bachelor's degree syllabus. For B.Ed, the university conducts BEET.
