Swami Vivekananda University has Established a Center Devoted to Tagore Studies and Performing Arts
December 14, 2023: Swami Vivekananda University established the Centre for Tagore Studies and Performing Arts, emphasizing the university's commitment to conserving and propagating Rabindranath Tagore's literary heritage. Chancellor Dr. Nandan Gupta presided over the opening, which included distinguished guests such as Prof. Basabi Fraser and Prof Neil Fraser. Prof Subrata Kumar Dey, Vice Chancellor, and Prof Deb Narayan Bandyopadhyay, CEO, were also in attendance.
Through interdisciplinary studies, this program, inspired by utopian aspirations, attempts to bridge literature and performing arts. Prof. Rituparna Chakraborty, Head of the Department of English, emphasized the center's dedication to studying Tagore's writings and contributing to academic debate. Saurabh Adhikari, the center's Chief Operating Officer, was instrumental, and the center has inked an MoU with the Scottish Centre for Tagore Studies for future partnerships.
