Yes, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences releases a separate cutoff for the General Awareness section of TISSNET exam. Only candidates who meet the TISSNET exam cutoff and General Awareness cutoff are shortlisted for the Online Assessment rounds- Extempore and Online Personal Interview . Sectional cut-off for General Awareness (GA) is applied for qualifying the TISSNET. Candidates not scoring the minimum cut-off mark for the General Awareness as below will not be qualified for TISSNET irrespective of the aggregate score. For TISSNET 2023, the GA cutoff was revised due to a revision in the TISSNET answer key. Basis the deletion and revision of the answer key the revised cutoff for TISSNET 2023 General Awareness was:
1. General, Economically Weaker Section, Kashmir Migrants, and Armed Forces- 12
2. PwD and OBC (Non-Creamy layer)- 11
3. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe- No cutoff.

Candidates' aggregate score is calculated on the basis of the TISSNET score and performance in Online Assessment rounds. Candidates will be given final weightage on the basis of which the seats will be offered. As per the TISS notification, the weightage for each round is as follows:Stage 1: TISSNET exam: It will be centre-based objective-type test with a maximum of 100 marks. The weightage for the TISSNET exam is final computation will be 50 percent.Stage 2: Online Assessments: OA round will be divided into two components: Extempore and Online Interview. In the extempore round candidates will have to give a reflection on a given topic. The extempore is for 100 marks and carries the weightage of 20 percent. Whereas Personal Interview will also be of 100 marks and will carry a weightage of 30 percent.

The TISS Online Assessment round is divided into two stages: Extempore reflection and Personal Interview. The Online Assessment will be conducted for 20-30 minutes. In the Extempore round of the TISS Online Assessment, candidates will be asked to present a reflection on a given topic in front of the three panel members. The extempore round will be conducted online via Zoom application. The topic will be in accordance with the program applied for. Candidates will have to present the reflection for a duration of two to three minutes. In case, candidates are not comfortable with the first topic, they can request for second chance and change the topic. However, candidates will not be given a third chance to change the topic. Candidates must note that appearing for the TISS Online Assessment rounds does not guarantee seats to the candidates at the TISS campus. Candidates must know the programme structure and learning areas. 2. The latest events: Candidates must stay updated with the current events happening related to the programme applied for. Candidates must focus on reading articles and newspapers. 3. Enhance communication skills: Extempore and Personal Interview round assesses the candidate's communication skills. To enhance the skill, candidates must practice by preparing for common interview questions like a brief about themselves, inspiration to pursue this field of study, strengths and weaknesses; and How to improve the weaknesses; and Long-term career goals; how to handle stress and pressure and so forth. 4. Listening skills: Along with communication skills, candidates must focus on enhancing listening skills. 5. No use of non-verbal communication 6.
