No, its not hard to get admission at Calicut University. The university offers UG, PG, diploma, and doctoral courses, under 35 different departments divided into nine schools, for different streams, such as Engineering, Science, Law, Commerce, and Management, among others. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The accepted entrance exams are CMAT, CAT, KMAT, KMAT KERALA, and others. The university's admission process begins with an online application.

According to the cutoff 2024,  DM in Neurology programme cutoff was 204 for candidates belonging to the General category under the All India quota. In 2023, the cutoff for the same course was 741 for the aforementioned category, indicating that the competition over the 2 years. To get admission in Calicut University, students have to meet the basic eligibility first. Eligible students can apply online. The university selects students mainly on an entrance basis. Selected students need to report for verification of documents and counselling. Final merit list is posted at the official site of the university. Selected students need to pay admission fees to complete the process.

University of Calicut has a distance learning program, from which students without the proper means can attain valuable education. The institute has a School of Distance Education, which was formerly known as Institute of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education. Calicut University SDE offers 25 courses to students,  out of which13 are UG and 12 are PG programs. 

Calicut University participates in the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students, which is administered by the MHRD. This scholarship provides financial assistance to students in need to cover tuition, maintenance and other expenses. Eligibility includes enrolling in a full-time UG or PG course with a minimum of 55% marks in the previous examination. Applications are done online through the MHRD website and the university also has a scholarship cell to help students with the process and other scholarships.
