Calicut University B.Ed Eligibility & Highlights 2025

In the field of Education, Calicut University offers two-year B.Ed programme to the students across 12 specialisations. The University of Calicut has 69 colleges offering B.Ed programme (two Govt colleges, two aided colleges, 11 University Teacher Education Centres and 54 self-financing colleges). Selection is based on the aggregate marks/grade the applicants obtain in the degree exams. The following table mentions the eligibility criteria for all B.Ed specialisations:

Arabic	A pass in BA with Arabic Language and Literature/ BA Afzal-Ul-Ulama/BA Functional Arabic with 50% aggregate in Part-I+II+III together.
Commerce	- A pass in MCom with not less than 50% aggregate/ MBA with 55% aggregate in aggregate/equivalent grade are eligible for admission - Such candidates are not eligible for admission to any other optional subject
English	A pass in BA with English Language and Literature/ Functional English/ Communicative English with 50% aggregate in part-I+II+III together/ 50% aggregate for part-III alone.
Hindi	A pass in BA with Hindi Language and Literature/ Functional Hindi with 50% aggregate in part-I+II+III together/50% aggregate for part-III alone.
Malayalam	BA with Malayalam Language and Literature with 50% aggregate in part- I+II+III together or 50% aggregate for Part-III alone e.
Mathematics	- BSc with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Applied Statistics as main with 50% aggregate in part I+II+III together/ 50% aggregate for part-III alone or MSc in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Applied Statistics with 50% aggregate. - Candidates with Statistics/ Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects - UG in Engineering or UG in Technology with 55% aggregate

A brief experience of my college.

Placements: More than 91% of students at our college found their jobs as teachers. Last year, the highest salary from our college was 4 LPA, and the lowest was 1.8 LPA. Sri Chaitanya School, Vivekananda School, and many more were the top recruiting schools from our college. Generally, Science teachers and English teachers were hired as the top roles in these schools from our college.

Infrastructure: The college facilities and infrastructure were very good. The classrooms, library, labs, and college premises were very clean. Even our college classrooms had Wi-Fi. Along with studies in our college, importance was also given to sports and other cultural activities. They were celebrated with great importance every year.

Faculty: Every faculty in the college was well-qualified. They were highly educated. Each faculty member had at least five years of experience. Teaching quality in every class was very good. It makes easy for us to understand everything. Curriculum was very well-organized. It was very important for our future.

Overall, a good college for B.Ed.

Placements: Every year, more than 75 percent of students got placed at my college. The highest package is 3.5 LPA, while the lowest is 2 LPA. Science and English teachers are the most sought-after positions, while Sri Chaitanya and Vivekananda schools are the top recruiting schools.

Infrastructure: The college has acceptable and good amenities. The infrastructure is adequate. The labs, library, and classrooms are all well-kept. The college has strong Wi-Fi. The cuisine at the canteen is delicious. Sports and games are well-run, and the medical facilities are good.

Faculty: Every member of the faculty has received extensive training and education. A great deal of experience is present. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and their instruction is of such high quality that we can fully comprehend everything. Students are prepared for the workforce by the pertinent academic programme. 70 percent of students pass.

It has really good academics and infrastructure.

Placements: The placement in our course is not very significant. There is no placement cell in our course. The campus job vacancies are the only option for us. The salary offered in our course ranges from 4-5 LPA, and we can even consider below this salary package also.

Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available for our course are of an average level. The library is present on the campus. Classrooms are old but okay. Basic medical facilities are available. A limited sports ground is present here. The campus is clean and lush green.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The method of teaching of our faculty members is extremely different from others, and it is quite good. The course curriculum is relevant. It helps in making students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate.

It has a good campus life.

Placements: I was placed in M.Sc. Ship Logistics, ACCA, and CMA with an affiliated college under Calicut University degree. Based on the course and education, internships were given to build professional skills, and selections were made from the company. Placement assurance was provided.

Infrastructure: It was very professional with average-type infrastructure and a good atmosphere, worth the paid capacity. Whenever we needed service, they supported us like a friend. All facilities were nearby on the way to college, including grocery, supermarkets, and hospital facilities in the area. Hostel facilities assurance provided.

Faculty: It was much better actually. Teachers were very good and friendly. They always helped and supported us with what we needed. There were better curriculum activities like projects, posters, and business-related competitions. Semester exams were not difficult because of the teaching services provided by teachers and the college team. Overall, all the students passed in their subjects.

Other: I chose BBA because I was interested in business ideas for the future. The best thing was that they provided the best from their teaching side. I wished for more game-based activities related to the subjects, as that would have helped me understand the topics easily. All the events and campus activities were okay, but in the starting, the college considered the students to be of an average level. I had good memories of campus life.

It is the best college of my life.

Placements: The placement ratio is very good as it provides almost 100% of placements. It provides very good placements. It offers good salary packages to students in India. Teachers help during placements, and the average salary package offered to us is 18 LPA.

Infrastructure: Even the people living in Mumbai opt for the hostel because sometimes we have late-night classes or some club activities. The room is shared by 2 students. We have all the facilities from free internet to hot water 24x7. Hostels are inside the campus, and it is mostly 1 kilometer away from the lecture hall. We travel inside using a bicycle. We are served meal 4 times a day and it has everything in it from fruits, milk, etc.

Faculty: I wanted to begin my career in teaching and education. Something that will give me the opportunity to impart knowledge and learn at the same time. The rigorous training given by the institute helped me a lot to tackle the real world. Hence the course curriculum is perfectly blended with the real-world aspects. The institute believes in change and updating its process from time to time henceforth, they are improving themselves every day. Time and exams are conducted comfortably without any hassle.

The college gives full freedom to utilize its facilities.

Placements: The college does not provide you with any internship. You need to find an internship on your own. It totally depends on your social network and how your social network is to get an internship. So, if you are capable of finding an internship for yourself, then only you will get it.

Infrastructure: There are different clubs and innovation stages where students are engaged in different clubs, and we have the Ignite Cell, where students are engaged to start their startups and excel in their own from the basic level. The nightlife for boys is 24/7, and for girls, the timings for them are from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. The gym, cafeterias, and library are present in the evening and morning hours on every working day, and to hang out, we go to the auditorium.

Faculty: The faculty-to-student relationship is very good in this college. They are all very much friendly with us. There are 2 mid-seems, out of which the best one is chosen. Then, there is the end-sem. The question paper is of medium difficulty level. Very few students fail to clear the exams.
