Admissions are now open for animation, video game art and Industrial Design programs at DSK Supinfocom, India's one-of-its-kind international campus offering professional courses.

The three schools of Animation, Video and Industrial Design at DSK Supinfocom together offer full time, 5 year, high-end vocational courses in animation, video game art, Game design, Game  programming (2 years advanced course), transportation design, product design and digital design.

Admissions to the courses will be based on the entrance exam scheduled to be conducted on April 13, 2013. However, aspirants who miss the chance of taking the April exam can appear for the same on May 18 and May 19, 2013.

Eligibility for the courses:

Foundation:

  • (Year 1): 10+2 pass with proven creative capabilities. Finished portfolio
  • (Year 3): Degree/diploma in a creative field & a relevant finished portfolio

Advanced:

  • (Year 4): Degree/Diploma in animation / video game / industrial design or relevant work experience and a relevant finished portfolio

Given below is a low down of the exam pattern and other aspects of admissions:

For DSK Supinfocom - Animation:

Exam format:

This 4 to 4.5 hours (depending on the duration of the interview) exam encompasses the following:

  • Written Test: General knowledge, narration through images and writing, creativity, observational drawing (foundation course), drawing from memory (advanced course).
  • Interview: Candidates are required to present documents likely to demonstrate their artistic abilities.

 The sections where the questions for Foundation and Advanced are the same, the Foundation candidates will receive a bonus equaling 10 percent of the value.

Portfolio Guidelines:

  • Portfolios are mandatory for all candidates for the Advanced course and highly recommended for the candidates for the Foundation course
  • Artistic endeavors such as artwork (both traditionally made and digital), photography, music, writing, design could be presented
  • All elements should be presented in an organized manner

Note: Students will have to present their portfolios while the interview is being conducted.

Tips for the Entrance Exam:

  • More weightage will be given to Drawing, Creativity, and Narration (storyboard)
  • Importance will also be given to Interview and Art Appreciation which is, comparison between two paintings
  • General Knowledge will be tested by some questions from the domains of Geography, History, and Science
  • The personal interview helps us determine the student's motivation and maturity. Favorite films, books, hobbies, etc. will be mentioned.
  • The student's reasons for choosing studies in the field of animation will be questioned. This is also the moment to present one's portfolio.

For DSK Supinfocom – Industrial Design:

The courses offered at this school are:

  • Product Design
  • Transportation Design
  • Digital Design

Exam format:

This 5-hour program comprises the following sections:

  • Written test: To evaluate the applicant's creative talent, receptivity to new concepts and understanding of Industrial design culture.
  • Personal Interview: To discover the personality and potential of the applicant and to evaluate his/her motivation to study Industrial Design.

The examination paper will generally be based on the following topics.

  • Vehicle Conception
  • Product Conception
  • Interview with professionals

Portfolio Guidelines:

  • Portfolio for Year 1 students is not absolutely mandatory but if any proof of your creative abilities would definitely help.
  • Year 3 students mandatorily need portfolio apart from having knowledge about relevant design sites and magazines.
  • Drawings done by students have to be absolutely impressive and original

For DSK Supinfocom – Video Art:

  • Project Management and Game Design
  • Project Management and Game Art

Exam format:

  • Written test: evaluation of applicant's creativity, precision, general and video game knowledge, analytical abilities.
  • A discussion conducted by the Head of Studies and the trainers to analyse his / her personality traits and the motivation to study Video Game. A personal Portfolio is Mandatory.

 Portfolio Guidelines:

  • The purpose of the portfolio presentation is to judge student's interest and inclination towards the field. The portfolio must include the student’s resume.
  • It could also include Board Game, Card Game, Small Videos, Game Prototype, Stories, Game concepts, Research and Music.

Note: Students will have to present their portfolios while the interview is being conducted.

Test Date: April 13 and April 14, 2013

Test fees: Rs 3000/-

Test centres: Pune, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Mumbai

Mode of payment:

  • Demand Draft - in the name of 'DSK Global Education & Research Pvt Ltd.
  • Cash payment at the institute campus
  • Online Payment - direct transfer in the institute's HSBC account

Important dates:

  • Last date to submit the form: March 31, 2013
  • Entrance exam: April 13 and April 14, 2013 (April 14 only if the interview is not conducted on April 13)
  • The results will be out in 2 weeks after the conduct of the entrance exam.
