12-year-old Satyam Kumar from Bihar has cleared IIT-JEE with an All-India rank of 8,137. He was trained at Kota, Rajasthan.

12-year-old sails through IIT-JEE! All of 12 years, Satyam Kumar has already met the IIT-JEE challenge with flying colours. Schooled in Kota, Rajasthan, the young boy has wowed one and all by his impressive achievement of clearing the engineering entrance known to intimidate many a higher secondary student across the country.

 

Holding an All-India rank of 8,137, this child prodigy has qualified for admission to IIT. The achievement looks even grander when one considers the poor background of the child, born to parents who have not cleared their high school. Now the centre of attention, as the youngest to qualify IIT-JEE, Satyam belongs to a simple farmer family in Bihar's Bhojpur district. He did not even have any formal schooling till he was seven years old, nevertheless, he had memorized Geeta and Ramayan, by heart.

 

The family could not afford to pay for Kota's expensive coaching classes, but his extraordinary talent found mentors and he was given free IIT training at Kota where he's been living since 2007. Resonance Institute and its director R K Verma supported him by paying his school fees and other expenses.

After clearing class VIII from Rajasthan Board, Satyam switched to a CBSE-affiliated school from Class IX to XII in Kota. Though thrilled to make it to the IIT list, Satyam said that he would have been happier had he got a higher rank in the exam, reported NDTV. Read more

 

Satyam wants to be a Computer Engineer from IIT Kanpur. And it's not a mere wish, as he is prepared to take the exam again and secure a rank among the Top-100 in IIT-JEE.

 

But that's not all. This bright young mind has more ideas and dreams. Impressed by the phenomenal success of Mark Zuckerberg, the young boy is looking to create a social website on the lines of Facebook. But his ultimate career aim is to join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and serve the poor people in India's villages.

 

Becoming an inspiration for IIT aspirants across the country, Satyam is on his way to turn his ambitions into reality.
