How Vedatya prepares students for Industrial Training
Those practical seemed a complete waste of time back then to many people but that is the thing, people who do not have the willingness to learn new things with a state of mindfulness and instead they learn skills for the aspect of future benefit associated to it. That way the journey becomes very difficult, but if someone wishes to learn a new skill with a state of mindfulness then the journey of acquiring that skill becomes encapsulating. This reminds me of my training days, when I used to think that I had the worst start to my training as on the first day of my training I was asked to dust all the pictures in the hallway as a section of the hotel was under renovation which used to create a lot of dust. I was disheartened and was thinking what was the point of spending such huge amounts in college when this is what I have to do in training.
That way the journey becomes very difficult, but if someone wishes to learn a new skill with a state of mindfulness then the journey of acquiring that skill becomes encapsulating.
But this feeling soon faded away and I realised that I’ll have to make myself feel positive else I would not be able to complete the work. Amidst all this mixed feeling I heard a senior ask me why was I dusting the picture from top to bottom? This question instantly took my mind back to the housekeeping practical where I remember our professor teaching us that we should always clean or dust anything from top to bottom so that the article being cleaned gets cleaned thoroughly. All this happened in a glimpse and without even realising it I gave reason for cleaning in that fashion to the senior and he was impressed by me. The next day he asked me to be with the best room boy so that I can learn from him. At the same time my fellow trainees had to do the same work for another three days. That day all I could think of was what I was said back in college before the commencement of training “If you keep your basic strong, you’ll sail through any challenge what so ever” and I felt it that day.
Since that day there had been innumerous incidents where I had to put into use the soft skills and the technical skills Vedatya Institute had been training me for. I have gotten out of quarrels, ego clashes and various other tough situations using my choice of weapon. I remember when I was shifted to the Kitchen department was warned about a chef in particular, I was said that he’s the nightmare of trainees. On my first day of the kitchen department, I walked in into the kitchen with a clean mindset and did all that I was asked to do by that particular chef and to my astonishment, he was talking in a sweet tone to me and by the end of the day, we became friends! Had it not been my patience and obedience towards the chef I’d have become the most recent victim of cruelty the chef had to offer to disobedient and impatient trainees. Through the entire course of six months, I have realised that my fellow trainees who had a significant lack of soft skills had to face a lot of problems, they always used to get scolded by the manager and not all the people in the department wanted to work with them and I feel super proud to state that this was completely unlike in my case, I never got scolded by a manager handling operation and I used to befriend everybody in whatever department I used to work in.
Today after successfully completing my Industrial Training I reflect on that whatever I was made to do back in college has actually helped me in my entire IT. Looking back I have realised that the pressure we were subjected to during our practical or the PD session on extempore, each one of those skills has helped me tremendously. The soft skills, technical skills and above all the avidity to learn new things and improving oneself has made my entire IT possible, I fail to imagine me going through the IT without having such skills. Vedatya does not only provide students with knowledge but it facilitates the student with a will to learn new skills.
