I did my 6 months of Industrial Training from one of the renowned hoteliers in Delhi, Pullman and Novotel, says Khushi

Joining Vedatya came as a turning point in my life. I could see a drastic change in my personality, gained confidence and worked on my communication skills during these three years of my college life. Currently, I am in my third year of the Programme in Hospitality Management and Leadership (PHML); I have been given a lot of opportunities where I got to know my potential and skills. Talking about industrial training, Vedatya Institute provides immense exposure to students by their tie-up with numerous brands. Students are also given the choice to pursue their internships from India as well as abroad. I did my 6 months Industrial Training from Pullman and Novotel, New Delhi where I worked in all the major departments and was awarded “Incredible Intern of the Month”. Our college provides us with exposure to work for many Out Door Catering events. I was also given an opportunity to work as an Intern in Digital Marketing at Vedatya. Talking about co-curricular activities, different types of competitions are organised on a regular basis like Flower Arrangement Competition, Rangoli competition, Sand Castle Competition, Chef Competition, Quizzes and many more. Not only competitions, but we are also provided with a platform where we can work more on our hobbies, there are different types of clubs which we can be part of such as Sports Club, Literary Club, Photography Club etc.

During Covid-19 pandemic, classes were taken through the online medium and all the module leaders paid attention to each and every student. We also got the opportunity to take part in various online competitions. I was a part of the online “Group Discussion” and I was awarded the first prize in “Manage the Damage competition”. We were also given the opportunity to interact with General Managers of different hotels around the world through online mediums. Apart from theory classes and competitions, they made it more interesting by conducting practical where we used to cook for our parents and serve them. Vedatya made our lockdown period interesting by conducting so many different kinds of activities.

I have seen myself growing like a seed at this campus and our faculty plays a huge role in it. I have always been an average student and during my school days I was never given any chance to showcase my talent. Now, I have a lot of options and a platform to prove my skills. My module leaders have always motivated me to take part in several intra as well as inter-college competitions. According to me, the main USP of Vedatya is their Faculty members. Not only academically but they have helped me personally too, as mentors and also as friends. By always being particular about our grooming and punctuality they have made us better individuals. Our college also organises a Mentor-Mentee session where the student gets to interact with the module leader personally and can also share their problems & concerns with them. Talking about the modules, we are not only given theoretical knowledge but also the practical are taken with perfection. From cooking new cuisines every week, learning about a different style of service to knowing about human resource, sales and marketing, personality development we have not only learned about the operational departments but also about the nonoperational ones. The modules which we are taught here are contemporary and in complete accordance with the global hospitality industry which indeed provides us with a plethora of opportunities to grow as a hotelier. The knowledge and skills which I have been provided here will definitely help me in the long run. I am looking forward to better opportunities during the placement procedure which will help me to get one step closer to my goals.
