I got hands-on experience in Trident Gurgaon owned by the Oberoi Group of Hotels, says Muskaan

Going to Vedatya Institute every day in the morning gave me immense pleasure and delight. All motivated and geared up to go to study, learn, meet new people and make new friends. I was always very keen to study in an eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable institute where each student is given so much individual attention and care therefore Vedatya was the best and perfect choice that I had made. My passion and inclination were to pursue a field that is related to people and service. Programme in Hospitality and Leadership was the right career path for me as an individual. Not only talking about the campus and individuality given to students but also studying with a team of highly qualified, skilled, knowledgeable, friendly and professional faculty made my journey in Vedatya very memorable and enjoyable.

Joining Vedatya institute after completion of my schooling in Pathways World School Aravali, Gurgaon was challenging but there were three recruitment rounds that had taken place in Radisson Blu New Delhi Mahilpalpur where the entire college faculty were present. I was completely new in giving interviews and group discussions at that time but had prepared very hard for my college selection. I first got to know about Vedatya from my school career counsellor. I filled online college admission form then after a few days I was called for the first round which was a written examination comprising logical reasoning, analytical, language and problem-solving questions. I had performed fairly okay in that. Coming to the second round was a group discussion followed by a short personal interview round. In the end, I did very well in my last rounds so a total of three rounds were successfully completed. In a day or two, I had received a confirmation email from college. I was so happy to know about my selection and being a part of the institute.

The name “Ved” means source of knowledge and “Aditya” means sun. So an institution of knowledge and learning in abundance. The initial few weeks were induction and getting familiar with my peers, teachers, and campus. Induction was fun, engaging and interactive. Latter I got introduced to the teachers at a personnel level. I found the faculty very helpful. Classes that I had in my first, second and third year were purely based on hotels. A detailed theoretical and practical study of subjects such as

1. Food Production
2. Food and Beverage
3. Front Office
4. Housekeeping

Administrative subjects like:

1. Revenue Management
2. Entrepreneurship in Hospitality
3. Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism Industry
4. Personality Development
5. Marketing
6. Finance in Hospitality Basics
7. Event Management

I studied these subjects in-depth to get an insight into Hospitality Industry. Vedatya Institute also encourages extracurricular activities for students volleyball, football, tennis, table tennis, basketball, badminton and cricket for physical fitness and health. During my first year of college I was given a wonderful learning opportunity I got hands-on experience in Trident Gurgaon owned by the Oberoi Group of Hotels. I completed my industrial training for 6 months in all four core departments. I was selected for the same and Vedatya gave me special chance where I could do my IT in a hotel of my liking and personal reference. Gained practical experience of working in real-life hotel industry and make new connections with people.

Also in my first year of college, my batch and I had a small trip to Thakran Farm House in Gurgaon for three days. I was given an appreciation for being a happy smiling person. I felt so special everyone applauding and feeling happy for me. All my module leaders are just like my friends and will always be. Going to Vedatya was like a second home for me. I connected very well with everyone and had an extremely supportive positive studying environment. Another very special aspect of Vedatya institute is the library. It is comfortable and filled with a lot of books of different subjects. I used to enjoy my time studying in the library especially during examinations. I thoroughly enjoyed my time studying at the college. When I was in my third year of college a newly added subject in the course was Event Management in Hospitality and Tourism Industry. My batch as a part of the module and assessment had to organise events in groups of six people. Total there were nine groups. This module taught me the real meaning of teamwork. In groups getting sponsorships and using various marketing strategies to promote our events. This was one of my favorite times of college. Hard work teamwork and dedication. Everyone working in a team and helping me to manage and organise people and responsibilities in the real-life industry. Then at the managing all finances and compiling everything together into writing a report mentioning the plan, structure, theme, duties and responsibilities of each person in a group. At the end of my final year placements took place in college itself. All throughout three years and six semesters my interpersonal skills, understanding, knowledge got enhanced. For my job I had applied to hotels like Roseate and IHG. I was selected as a management trainee position in Roseate Hospitality Bird Group. Total there were four recruitment rounds and got selected in all four.  A lot of competitions as well used to happen. I participated in flower arrangements and rangoli making. I had fun being a part of it. Showcasing our own creativity.

My journey in Vedatya has been extremely rewarding and I developed my overall personality and self-confidence. Made so many great friends and bonded very well with module leaders. Each lecture throughout my three years of Hospitality Programme gave me a different understanding of my course which all helped me in my real-life job experience. I’m not only lucky to have studied in this college but also very grateful with the kind of experience I had and the faculty who supported me immensely.
