ICFAI Business School: What's Popular?

ICFAI Business School, IBS in short, is a constituent of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of INDIA (ICFAI). Started in 1995 with about 500 students, IBS has grown by leaps and bounds, and is one of the best B-Schools in India today, having more than 8500 students across all IBS campuses.

Some of the factors that make ICFAI Business School stand ahead of competition include its students, teaching methodology, faculty strength, industry interface, placement record, keeping its curriculum in pace with the current demands of the industry and not the least, its Alumni members.

IBS Campuses are spread across the country, covering east, west, north and south having a combined strength of more than 8500 students, with students coming from almost all the states. To ensure that the quality of intake is of good standard, IBS takes the prospects through an elaborate selection process, which includes an admissions test (IBSAT), GD and PI.

Industry oriented learning

The students are exposed to the practical approach to learning by what is called Case Method. The case method of teaching exposes students to practical situations faced by the industry, and provides a platform for discussing the approach taken, its results and subsequent analysis.

Most specialised and contemporary courses are better taught by professionals from the industry. Hence services of visiting faculty from the corporate sector are sought for imparting relevant field experience to the students. Adding to this are guest lectures and seminars from Industry professionals organised by most of the IBS campuses on contemporary topics.

Students are required to complete Summer Internship Program (SIP) at the end of the first year. During SIP, students go through internship with prominent companies which helps them to get to grips with industry practices. Also, as part of corporate exposure, regular visits to manufacturing facilities, corporate offices and retail outlets are organized. During these visits, students are able to relate to the concepts and connect back to the theories, making the learning holistic. Students get to interact with senior executives of the organizations.

Role of Alumni

IBS has a strong Alumni base of around 58000+, engaged in fast track careers with companies of national and international repute. Their success in the industry is due to their skills and hard work, stemming from the academic rigor and quality of the education imparted at IBS. IBS ensures that these alumni are in constant touch and play a good role as mentors of the current batch of students. 

Career Management Centre

Career Management Centre (CMC) of IBS was set up in 1995, with an objective to enhance the placement prospects of IBS students. It comprises of a faculty member and a team of corporate relationship managers. CMC teams visit potential corporates to appraise them of availability of talent at the IBS campuses and arrange placement interviews. Since its establishment, IBS has developed a mutually beneficial relationship with over 4000 corporates in the country and overseas. In addition, it also plans and arranges training in soft skills, group discussions and mock interviews by industry professionals to enhance the potential of the students in final placements.

In summary, the students at IBS not only get the necessary domain knowledge of the courses taught, but also the value addition due to all the regular measures taken to make the students ready for facing the realities and rigors of the industry have been helping them in reaping best results in terms of excellent placements at all IBS campuses.
