IIT faculty to play key role in JEE 2013
To avoid the JEE ordeal and win a broader consensus, the HRD Ministry has offered the IIT faculty to be more involved in the key decision-making process on the matter of common tests. The new JEE 2013, which was passed by the IIT Council, had faced stiff opposition from the IIT faculty federations. This step might help eliminate such differences in the future. Read more
In a poll conducted by Careermitra on the new IIT selection process, 65% users voted against the idea of including board marks in the selection process for the IITs. In the recently announced compromise formula, the new JEE 2013 will have a two-tier test – JEE Main for all the centrally funded technical institutes and JEE Advanced for the IITs. While the NITs will give 40% weightage to the board exam marks and 60% weightage to the marks of JEE Main, IITs will allow top 1,50,000 of JEE Main who are in the Top 20 percentilers of their respective board exams to sit for JEE Advanced. Following IIT Kanpur’s resolution to constitute a senate committee to undertake a broad-based study into all aspects of the admission process for JEE 2014 and arrive at recommendations, the HRD Ministry has woken up to constitute a separate committee for it too. The ministry’s committee will also study whether two-tier examination format will be continued in 2014 or not. See details
