Last minute tips for JEE (Main)
Preparing for JEE (Main) exam? One of the leading test prep academy for JEE – Career Launcher (C L Educate) shares useful tips for last-minute revision. (JEE Main has replaced the older AIEEE.)
The important topics to be revised in each subject are as follows:
Physics: Work Power and Energy, Ray and Wave Optics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity and Modern Physics. The Physics paper of JEE Main may be a little simpler than the JEE Advanced. However, the last AIEEE paper was almost similar to the IIT-JEE as far as the level of difficulty is concerned.
Mathematics: Limits Continuity and Differentiability, Indefinite and Definite Integration, Complex Numbers, Matrices and Determinants and Coordinate Geometry. The Mathematics Paper of AIEEE was usually much simpler than IIT-JEE.
Chemistry: Atomic Structure and Classification, Chemical Bonding, GOC and Organic Chemistry of Functional Groups and Coordination Compounds. The Chemistry paper is usually the easiest to handle out of the three subjects and the most scoring as well.
Some general tips:
- Take 1 to 2 mock tests during the next couple of days. Take the last two year’s actual AIEEE paper as mock to understand the level of the exam.
- The mock tests should be taken between 9:00 am to 12:00 noon to ensure that physically and mentally you are at your best during these three hours and are well prepared for it, as on the day of the IIT JEE exam it is during these three hours that your have to be most effective. The students taking the online exam should take the mock during the time opted by them for the actual test.
- On the day of the actual exam, read all the instructions carefully and also read the questions carefully. In fact, you should plan to devote the first 5 minutes for reading the instructions and a quick look on the question paper to understand how to start.
- As usually there is no subject-wise cut-off, it is advisable that you attempt all the easy questions from all the three subjects first and then move to the moderate and difficult questions to utilise your time properly as all the questions might carry equal marks. However, read the instructions properly before doing this.
- Do not waste too much time on solving any single question, if you cannot answer a question, move on to the other questions.
- Last but not the least; ensure that you do not make mistakes in calculations as doing one question wrong may bring down your rank by 500 to 1000. Do not make a guess. It’s better not to score than scoring negatively.
