Management Aptitude Test (MAT) was recently conducted on December 2, 2012. Read about MAT paper pattern here.

One of the premiere management entrance examinations in India, MAT is conducted 4 times in year - Sept., Dec., Feb. and May. It was on December 2, 2012 when AIMA conducted the second phase of the examination which experienced a healthy participation from management aspirants from all across the country.

Exam Snapshot:

  • Number of Questions - 200
  • Sections - 5
  • Marking Scheme - 1 mark per question
  • Negative Marking – 0.25 marks per question
  • Number of Choices - 4(1,2,3,4)
  • Duration - 150 Min (2 hrs 30mins)

Language Comprehension

  • Number of questions - 40
  • The section comprised of 20 questions on 5 passages namely: Medical and healthcare facilities in India, Banking & mutual funds, Self-sufficiency with solar power, Nuclear Independence and 1 other.
  • Remaining questions were split in the form of jumbled paragraph, vocabulary; fill in the blanks, choosing the grammatically correct sentence and finding the best essence of the given Paragraph.

Data Analysis and Sufficiency

  • Number of questions – 40
  • 30 questions in this section were on Data analysis and the remaining 10 were on Data sufficiency and Data comparison. The questions were based on pie chart, bar chart and a caselet.

Mathematical Skills

  • Number of questions – 40
  • This section comprised questions on Percentages, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Geometry & Mensuration, Time and Distance, Averages, Mixtures and Alligations, Ratio & Proportion, Equations, Interest, Trigonometry, Probability and Permutation & Combination

Intelligence and Critical Reasoning

  • Number of questions – 40
  • This section comprised questions on statements and conclusions, assertion and reason, cause effect and word analogies along with a few questions on Family Tree, direction sense and family based analytical Reasoning. 

India and Global Environment

This section comprised 40 questions on GK including topics like current affairs, Indian / World politics, Sports, Business, Science and News makers in 2012.

1.    Alliance University

Eligibility-

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate from a recognized University
  • A high score in GMAT/CAT/XAT/MAT/ATMA/CMAT

2.    Christ University

Eligibility-

  • A composite score of 600 or above (except for MBA with PGDM option) in the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by AIMA in either September 2012 or December 2012 OR 75 percentile or above in the Common Admission Test 2012 (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
  • 50% or above marks in aggregate in the Undergraduate Examinations. (Applicants who are in the final year of their studies should have 50% or above aggregate in all the Semesters/Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far).
  • Minimum Score specified for MAT/CAT is only an eligibility criteria and the actual score thereof shall have no bearing in the selection process

4.    Calcutta Business School

Eligibility-

  • The minimum requirement for admission to the program is a 3-years Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign University with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Candidates appearing for final year Bachelor's degree examinations (or an equivalent examination) can also apply, provided they complete all degree requirements by September 30, 2013.

Eligibility-
