I chose JIMS Kalkaji based on Commerce mantra 'without risk there are no returns’, says Aishani Ahuja
Upon completion of Class 10 exams, I was asked to choose subjects for myself but like many other students, I was also confused about which field to choose. To help us with the confusion, our school conducted an aptitude test so students can realise of their potential and interests. With the help of this, I was completely sure that I wanted to pursue commerce as it had numbers, mathematics and accounts and a mix of interesting theory subjects. Commerce subjects require more of understanding, I started gaining more interest which made it clear that I was correct in making the choice of stream. And this also made me sure that I wanted to pursue higher studies in the same domain.
Then came another confusion in life. After Class 12 exams, it was time to choose a college to pursue graduation. So, with the guidance of my parents and teachers, I was advised to fill-up the forms of universities which had entrance exam-based admissions. I love to face new challenges and by giving the aptitude test once I was confident about the logical and reasoning part of the entrance exams. I also joined the coaching classes for the same to be more confident. The institute helped me fill up entrance forms for different universities such as GGSIPU, NMIMS, IIMs, BMS and a few more, also their crash course tricks and techniques of solving questions quickly and differently helped me clear the entrances with much more ease. This helped me score well in all the exam after which I was relaxed as I was sure that I would surely get into a good college. When the admissions for GGSIPU began, I opted for BCom (Hons) and started reviewing rather visiting the list of colleges I had. When the first list came, I decided to take some risk as the Commerce mantra says, ‘without risk there are no returns’. I chose for the spot round so that I could get into the top college of GGSIPU and yes taking that risk was correct because I could get into JIMS Kalkaji - Jagannath International Management School.
When I entered the campus I was initially a bit nervous as everything was new however with the help of my mentors and friends everything felt normal in just a few days. I loved attending all the lectures as they were very interactive and the teachers were very helpful. They provided complete support whenever needed. Along with the curriculum the college also came up with societies and multiple events such as Zest, Star Night and Anugoonj, which helped me develop team management skills. Also, I was given a chance to showcase my talent in events like freshers party, zest and farewell party being a part of the art and cultural society which was great fun as well as a learning experience. All these activities together contributed in making a person that I am today. Today, when my college life has almost come to an end with just the final year exams left, I look back to the guidance and nurturing which JIMS gave me through its interactive guest lecture sessions, personality development classes and industrial visits, and changed me from the person who I was to a much more confident, independent and responsible individual. I will always be grateful to JIMS for what it has made me and the wonderful memories.
I am also planning to pursue some professional course after the final year exams.
