I was amazed to know that this institute has its own farming facilities, says Harsh

By the time Class 12 exams were over, I wasn’t really sure about my future plans. I applied for BBA programme after all my counselling sessions but I was still not convinced with the idea of pursuing a management programme. I thought about undergoing one last counselling session that changed my whole perspective and I landed into Hospitality and Tourism Management. Because all I wanted for my upcoming 10 years was to travel, work, entrepreneurship opportunities and Guests Service. Now I am a part of this amazing Institute known as Vedatya Institute based out of Gurugram. I was brought here by one of our faculty members only, who showed me the way for Vedatya and how opting for this institute can be a life-changing decision. It provides the right platform and opportunities for a student to excel in the industry. For many of us, a smaller number of students in the institute may be the reason for not opting for it but for me, it was one of the things which attracted me to this institute which is still beneficial for me in terms of practical knowledge. I have always got attention from the professors individually whenever required, which makes learning more effective.

The day I entered the campus, I was being given a warm welcome by the nature itself. I was amazed to know that this institute has its own farming facilities which ensure they use 100% natural and organic farming products. I am personally not fond of biodiversity but after seeing the atmosphere I really enjoy being surrounded by the beautiful flora in my free time being a hosteller.

My initial days at the college were really great. We were introduced to all the faculty members or module leaders. They had planned some games and entertainment for us on the first day (lemon race, newspaper wrapping games, several competitions, dance and etc). By this time, I had made good friends, supporting faculty members and a peaceful aura which made me feel like a family. Gradually we moved on towards academic. And studies here are quite interesting because hospitality and tourism itself is an interesting industry so we enjoy studying here. It’s not like an ordinary class. Initially, we were provided with the grooming classes by the professionals to polish our grooming skills for the industry to become a hotelier and went on with the studies and practicals.

Then comes the second year in which I was provided with the opportunity for five months of international internship and the place I chose was Dubai, Ramada hotel by Wyndham in food and beverage services. I would like to thank my college for helping me to bring out my interest in the food and beverage sector. My internship went really good there wasn’t any problem while applying for it as I gave my entire interviews sitting in the college. Everything went very smoothly from arrival to departure with the support of the faculty. I really enjoyed being in Dubai as it was my first time I ever went out to get work experience. By this, I got to know how really the Hotel industry works and on what principles. I didn’t find it difficult to manage with the standards of hospitality as I have been already groomed and being treated like a professional hotelier.

After returning from my internship in my third year, here we come with my favourite project I have always been waiting for since day one, which is event planning. This is way beyond chef or bartending competitions held at our campus. In this module, we have to create a theme-based event in which we have to sell the tickets and get the profit out of it just like any fete or a Christmas carnival. And this project tests our learning and practical knowledge we have gained till now. The best part about this event is that we are our own boss! Which provides us a wide range of experiences of a real event. Everything we do in the event is by ourselves from buying vegetables to marketing the tickets.

In this module, we have to create a theme-based event in which we have to sell the tickets and get the profit out of it just like any fete or a Christmas carnival. And this project tests our learning and practical knowledge we have gained till now. The best part about this event is that we are our own boss!

And then we all are ready to step into the industry followed by the campus placements at the best properties.
