The best example of 'feel and learn' methodology is Vedatya’s ‘Farm-to-Fork’, says Eshaan
As I finished off with my high school, I began to look out for a suitable course and college for my graduation. After a couple of counselling sessions and checking reviews of various colleges, I finalised Vedatya Institute because of its esteemed faculty and good placement record. Then as things went forward I cleared the written exam and then the interview round. Due to the global pandemic situation, the complete admission process was being held in an online format after which I got an official mail that I was selected. Soon I requested the college staff that I want to visit the campus and my first ever campus visit was truly marvellous and memorable. Everyone at the college is really kind and understanding.
Even though the pandemic was on but learning never stops at Vedatya. We had our orientation week in online mode only and then without any further delays, our module leaders began the lectures so that there’s no year wastage for students, unlike other universities. Also, it wasn’t just a hurry to finish up the semester rather it was the best practice that can be done to give every student a great and deep understanding of the topic to get some worth out of these hard times. All the way, from my personal experience I felt the whole of the faculty and staff is highly approachable at the times of any personal as well as professional queries.
It didn’t take much time when we were there at the campus for practicals and offline classes after the official guidelines from the government in early December. Here at Vedatya you see, feel and then learn, the best example of the same is Vedatya’s ‘Farm-to-Fork’ concept where a student himself/herself gets the ingredients (varieties of herbs, fruits & vegetables) from an on-campus farm and works it out until the same is there on the guest’s table. It feels really refreshing and replenishing when you are at the campus and you yourself see how the things that you eat are grown naturally without the use of any pesticide, herbicide, or insecticide with help of manures and vermin composts.
That’s much about the academics but here at Vedatya, there are various competitions, fun activities as well as co-curricular activities that keep on happening all around the year. We have a lot of competitions such as debate competition, sandcastle making competition, photography competition, chef competitions, rangoli making competition and many more which plays a key role in Fun Learning. Also, the college celebrates all festivals on campus.
Sustainable Vedatya
Vedatya leads by example and one such example is sustainability what I believe makes a difference. Here, drip irrigation is being practised for the past several years in all of its farms that are there in the campus which reduces water wastage and providing each crop with the required water respectively. The management is also planning and working on a project for the installation of solar cells & panels so to have self-generated electricity which is another step towards sustainability. There’s a fish pond in the campus with different fish varieties in it and it is ensured that all the fish cookery is done by the fishes that are cultured here only. Our campus spread over to 20 acres with about 800 trees surrounding it. All this together helps and contributes in making our college campus pollution-free and provides the natural conditions so that various varieties of Continental, Indian as well as Oriental and many other herbs, fruits and vegetables grow and taste as they are meant to be.
Adding on some grace, to the same we have a gym in the campus for people who like fitness and a library for those who like to achieve and gain knowledge very deeply. There are multiple kitchens and advanced kitchens along with a bar, a café in the institute. Also, we practice a variety of sports some of which are football, badminton, cricket, basketball, lawn tennis, chess, table tennis and a lot more in the campus.
I myself believe that Vedatya is a complete combination of enjoying college life, co-curricular activities with learning and gaining knowledge all at the same time.
