No MCQs in JEE Advanced 2014?
As per the new proposed plan, IIT aspirants taking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced in 2014 will not have to write long answers. Though the exam will not have multiple choice questions (MCQs) but will be subjective in the sense that students will be required to solve problems and write answers only; there will be no need to give a step-wise solution to the problem.
In fact, for the descriptive answers too, aspirants will be asked to give answers in the form of 'fill in the blanks' or 'complete the following'.
IIT-B director Devang Khakhar said, "Students will not have to write long, descriptive answers. They will have to get answers on their own as there will be no options,” reported TOI.
In what appears to be a combination of two formats, the exam will aim to analyse a student's understanding of the subject. However, the format is yet to be approved from senates of other IITs. It will be forwarded to the joint admission board (JAB) meeting only after the senate accepts the proposal.
As for this year, both the exams – JEE Main and Advanced 2013 - which are a part of the two-tier exam system will have multiple-choice questions and the change in format will only be introduced next year.
