In an interview with Shiksha.com, Rakhi Sheth, Centre Head at International School of Design, Kandivali, discusses the institute's emphasis on providing more practical knowledge. She goes into depth about worldwide standards and regular partnerships with industry thought leaders, with the intention of developing the country's raw potential into competent professionals capable of taking on transformational leadership roles in the near future.

Rakhi Sheth has worked in the fashion industry since a long time and has been in educational stream from last 20 years. She always had the desire to start her own institute and train future designers to their best who can excel in this field. INSD Kandivali was her dream and she took the initiative to bring it into existence and is trying her best to nurture it and take it to higher standards.

Q: What things that your institute is doing that will enable it to differentiate itself from competition.

A: Our institute impart more of practical knowledge and we train students dynamically by giving them more exposure to outside world.

We are training our students by giving special online programmes which are internationally acclaimed and focus on giving students a GLOBAL outlook.

Q: What is the institute’s top priority in next 10 years?

A: Having future vision of training more students globally with our new Luxury  Brand management programes which we have started recently which will give chance to work at high ends brands in the luxury industry such as LAMBOGINI, ABFRL, THE TAJ HOTELS, MARIOTTS, WEDDING SUTRA, JAIPUR RUGS, LA POLO, ROSE GROUPS and many more.

Q: What are the key attributes that a student should have in order to qualify for your institution and perform well

A: The key attributes a student should have to qualify for our courses are basic academic education and passion to learn new things and adapt him/her to new changes taking place in the design industry. These basic attributes will only help students to perform well.

Q: What are you doing to improve/drive better campus placements for your current students and alumni?

A: We aim to provide the best education in the design field and nurture creative talents by giving them the right platform to come out with excellence in their career and excel with flying colors. With a focus on international standards and regular collaborations with the industry’s top minds, we hope to see our country’s raw talent developed into skilled professionals capable of taking on transformational leadership roles in the near future.

Q: What kind of jobs routinely come to campus? What would you say are the key recruitment trends for your college (observed over the past five years)?

A: Our graduates are working with some of the best in the industry and we are trying to give endless opportunities by providing guest faculties from various countries and also providing international study tours which help the student to travel and mingle with students from around the globe and exchange ideas and experiences.
