Aiming to carve a niche as a lawyer then get set for the LAW Common Entrance Test-2013 (LAWCET-2013) and PG LAW Common Entrance Test - 2013 (PGLCET-2013), which will be conducted by the Department of Law, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for admission into 3Year / 5Year LL.B / B.L & LL.M, on June 6 2013.

Courses offered:

Students clearing the LAWCET Exam will be admitted to the following courses:

  • LLB / BL (Duration 3 years)
  • LLB/BL (Duration 5 years)

Students clearing the PGLCET exam will be admitted to the following course:

  • LLM / ML

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the LAWCET and PGLCET exams, candidates must be Indian nationals, and must also satisfy local/unreserved status requirements for Andhra Pradesh.

Eligibility for 3 year LLM/ML (LAWCET):

In order to appear for the test, the candidate should possess a graduate degree (10+2+3) or equivalent exam from a recognized university with aggregate marks of at least 45 percent.

There is a relaxation of 5% for Scheduled Castes/Schedule Tribes (SC/ST) candidates.

Eligibility for 5 year LLM/ML (LAWCET):

To be eligible for this course, the candidates required to have passed the two-year intermediate examination (10+2) or equivalent with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate marks.

There is a relaxation of 5% of marks for Scheduled Castes/Schedule Tribes (SC/ST) candidates.

Eligibility for LL.M. /M.L (PGLCET):

To be eligible for tis course, the candidate must possess an LL.B./B.L. degree. Final year LL.B./B.L. students appearing (or who have appeared) for their exam are also eligible.

Exam Pattern for LAWCET:

The LAWCET test has a total of 120 questions and a maximum time of 90 minutes. Each question has one mark. There is no negative marking. The test is set in English and Telugu. The level of the test should be about the Intermediate level for the five-year Law course, and degree level for the three-year Law course. Questions are objective type, which include multiple choices and matching.

  • Part A General Knowledge and Mental Ability: 30 questions
  • Part B Current Affairs: 30 questions
  • Part C Aptitude for the Study of Law: 60 questions
  • Total: 120 questions, 120 marks

For Part C: Students should be aware of basic principles in the law and constitution of India. Qualifying marks for the exam are 35 percent (42 marks out of 120). There no qualifying marks for SC/ST.

Exam Pattern for PGLCET:

PGLCET

The test has 90 minutes allotted, with a total of 120 questions. Each question carries one mark. The test is conducted in English. Questions are multiple choices. The test is divided into two parts, Part A and Part B.

  • Jurisprudence: 20 questions
  • Constitutional Law: 20 questions
  • Total: 40 questions, 40 marks

 

  • Public International Law: 16 questions
  • Mercantile Law: 16 questions
  • Labour Law: 16 questions
  • Crimes and Torts: 16 questions
  • IPR and Other Laws: 16 questions
  • Total: 80 questions, 80 marks

 

 

Qualifying marks for the entrance test are 25 percent. There are no qualifying marks for SC/ST candidates.
