There is a food truck in the campus that teaches us guest handling and on-spot food preparation, says Mehak

It takes time to decide what you want to do after schooling. I was also one such student who was not sure which career path I should pursue. However, it was clear that my interest is in the kitchen. So, after many counselling sessions, I made up my mind and decided to do Hotel Management from a private college. While exploring the options, I got to know about Vedatya Institute.

Vedatya is an educator for the service industry. The Institute's campus is located in Gurgaon, Sohna Road. It is fully integrated with academic, recreational and residential facilities for students. It offers a total of 14 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and two certificate courses.

After filling its application form, it was time for the personal interview. There were two rounds in all i.e., written exam and personal interview. I cleared both rounds and got the opportunity to study at Vedatya Institute.

The day I entered the Vedatya campus, I could feel the different positive vibes that make everyone focused and concentrated to work there. Everyone in Vedatya whether it is staff, teachers or even the guards is very positive and friendly.

At the beginning of my journey, I started knowing my teachers in orientation week. They are very supportive, kind and always there for help. I learnt many things from theory as well as practical sessions. They know how to teach every beginner. They appreciate my work and keeps me encouraged for doing my responsibility. End of every three to four months there is a one-to-one interaction between student and teacher, where we can share our problems, deficiencies, interest.

Apart from academics, we got the opportunity to do a lot of activities like Vedatya has its own farm where we use to learn to farm during our free time. Newly they have made a fish pond in the campus that adds in our learning about sustainability. There is a food truck in which we get to learn how to handle guest orders and prepare the food on the spot. They have their own cafe named 'Farm View Cafe' in which we use to do our practicals. Also, there are many events and competitions such as rangoli competition, budding chef competition, indoor games and outdoor games through which we get the opportunity to showcase our talent.

Talking about my achievements, I won the Badminton cup and carom game in indoor activities. We have also represented our college in the inter-college competition for badminton, basketball, Nukkad Natak etc. Vedatya also celebrates all festivals with great interest and enthusiasm. They also organise an official Freshers party for the Freshers in Radisson blu, Mahipalpur Aerocity.

Vedatya gives us an adventurous experience of learning through practical sessions. We are also provided with an opportunity to interact with the guest from this hospitality industry. After the first semester exams, I got the opportunity to do ODC (out-door catering) in Andaz Hotel, Aerocity. My first experience was quite tough yet interesting. Vedatya has been always be a supporter for all the students. Recently during Covid-19, pandemic I was having online classes but I never felt that we all are not together. It doesn't matter that our classes were taken online or offline. The way I learnt things on campus, in the same way, I was learning through online classes. The institute is helping me to build a better personality. Also, It is helping me to overcome my weaknesses. I am glad that i am a student of Vedatya, where mentors are always standing by your side in your good times or bad. I am very grateful to Vedatya for working hard on students and making them to become better version of themselves.
