Important Preparation Tips for GSEB Class 12 Biology Exam

The students preparing for the GSEB Class 12 Biology exam should understand the basic concepts and revise them regularly to score well. Some of the important tips to prepare for GSEB Class 12 Biology exam are given below.

  1. Solve previous years’ question papers: Class 12 Biology is essential not only for board exams but for medical entrances such as NEET and other related entrances. So, every student requires a thorough knowledge of GSEB Biology textbook. Solving GSEB 12th previous years’ question papers helps to gauge the level of difficulty of board examination. This also helps with time management. Solving past question papers within the specified time frame will help to manage time during the exam.
  2. Focus on what’s important: The students should also understand the pattern of the exam. After analysing the previous year question papers, you can identify the questions from a few important topics that are repeated every year. Mark these topics and prepare accordingly.
  3. Diagrams and labelling in Biology: Biology is often considered as a subject where concepts can be perfected with consistent practice. The students must practise the diagrams and its labelling regularly for scoring marks.
  4. Declutter: While practising past years' question paper, the students should learn to give a well-defined structure to the answers. Long answers should have an introduction, body and conclusion. Structuring the answers will help in saving time.
  5. Time management: It may sound clichéd but managing the time is an efficient way of getting good marks. The students can keep a stopwatch and monitor the time taken to complete the diagrams, long and short answers, etc. Mapping the time will help in enhancing speed and accuracy.
  6. A month before the exam: In Biology, it’s important to jot down topic-wise key points and go through the same. Online tutorials and mock tests also help in understanding the concepts in a better way.
  7. Sample of GSEB papers: During the preparation, the students must go through online question papers with answer booklets as provided by the GSEB board and practise the same. This will help in getting an idea of framing the answers. Also, keep a track of answer booklets available for up to past five years.
  8. Pay attention to nomenclature: Biology requires a keen understanding of natural processes. It is also a subject of names. The students should focus on learning the keywords and terms which cannot be replaced. This helps in scoring well in the exam.
  9. Don’t compare: Every student has a different study plan and pattern. This includes revisiting and revising the crucial topics. Therefore, they should not compare their progress with others.
