CISCE asked schools to list their progress in covering the syllabi via online classes and the difficulties they faced while conducting the classes and the assessments that went virtual in March.
The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) shared a questionnaire with its affiliated schools in Kolkata asking them to list their progress in covering the syllabi via online classes. The Board also asked them to list down the difficulties they faced while conducting the classes and the assessments that went virtual in March. According to the reports, CISCE is planning to frame questions for ICSE Board Exams 2021 and ISC Board Exams 2021 based on the feedback received from schools that must be submitted by November 11. The questionnaire is an updated version of the two earlier ones that had been sent to schools last July. CISCE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon asked schools to respond to two questionnaires regarding the status of online teaching, coverage of the reduced syllabus and the assessment and evaluation done in schools.
Mr Arathoon further stated, "With the majority of the present academic session work having been done, it is imperative for the Council to have clarity on the same. This is particularly important as we have started preparing for the 2021 board examinations. Therefore, once again, the CISCE has designed a questionnaire to be filled in by the school heads who will be presenting candidates in the ICSE and ISC examinations."
One of the questions asked by CISCE is by when would the theory syllabus be completed. School principals are also asked if assessments or examinations had been conducted to test the portions of the syllabus covered and how they were done by the institutes. Finally, principals also have to write their own comments about imparting theory classes, practical classes, online mode of teaching and the syllabus that has been covered by the schools. Talking about the move made by the Board, the principal of Julien Day School, Ganganagar, Bobby Baxter said, "The Council is devising several plans that can be put in place as the pandemic situation evolves. They need to understand and keep strategies ready for various scenarios that may come up next year. According to the situation, these plans will be executed."
"The Council has sought the replies to have a better understanding of the teaching-learning method followed by schools in various regions of the country," he added.
