Around 20,000 candidates appeared for the NIFT 2025 entrance exam.

After the Situation Test, NIFT prepares a final merit list based on the weighted average of GAT, CAT, and Situation Test scores. Qualified candidates are then invited for counselling.

NIFT final merit list is based on performance in the Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), Situation Test, and/or Personal Interview, depending on the program.

NIFT UG and PG admit card 2026 is issued a week before the exam date by NTA on the official website.

The weightage of different stages in NIFT selection process (expected):

• BDes: CAT (50%), GAT (30%), Situation Test (20%)

• MFM/MFTech: GAT (70%), GD/PI (30%)

The record of the NIFT Entrance Examination will be preserved up to 90 days from the date of declaration of result.

NIFT scores are valid for the admission cycle of the same academic year only.

NIFT Admit card 2026 is expected to be out in First week of February 2026.

NIFT offers: B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses.

 NIFT written exams comprise the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and the General Ability Test (GAT). The GAT paper is mandatory for all courses. However, only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT.

The NIFT entrance exam is conducted in TWO parts.

1. Written exams
2. Situation Test/ Personal Interview.

NIFTs currently offer a combined intake of 5,289 seats.

2. Log in to the portal using your application number, email ID, and DOB
3. Once you log in, you can access the application form.
4. Make the necessary changes 
5. Submit the edited application form.

The candidate can make the below-mentioned changes in their NIFT application form during the application correction window.

The candidate must upload their signature and photograph.

NIFT Lateral Entry Admission, candidates will be considered for admission directly to the third semester of the UG program.

NTA also allows candidates to edit the NIFT Application form if they have filled in any incorrect information.

The written examination for NIFT 2026 has two components:

1. Creative Ability Test (CAT)
2. General Ability Test (GAT).

NIFT 2026 exam is conducted in two stages. Stage 1 includes the written exams - GAT and CAT. 

NIFT exam is expected to be held at 26 centres in 18 cities in the country.

Candidates who are appearing for their compartment exams may apply, but they must submit proof of qualification before admission, as per NIFT’s final cut-off dates.
