The online/distance degrees offered by the Centre for Distance and Online Education at Annamalai University are valid. Previously, the University Grants Commission (UGC) did not approve its courses starting from 2015. However, Annamalai University DDE  received relief from the Madras High Court in an order dated 21.01.2023. Subsequently, following a reassessment by the UGC, Annamalai DDE achieved a qualifying score of 3.38, which led to extending the validity of its programmes until 2027.

Annamalai University DDE has not specified any age limit to apply for a course. However, aspirants do need to fulfill the qualification requirements to apply for admission. The basic qualification required for UG courses is Class 12 and graduation for PG programmes.

Annamalai University DDE offers courses at UG, PG, Diploma and certificate levels in distance education mode. The syllabus and self learning study materials for the programme is supplied during the time of admission. For the second, third and fourth semesters/ years, the self-learning study material is dispatched by CDOE via post on receipt of the tuition fee for respective years. Students should also have paid the fees in full for the
previous years to get the study material.

Annamalai University DDE offers admission in two cycles in an academic year. Admissions in distance education courses are offered in January and July sessions.
