Armed Forces Medical College, Pune is without a doubt a top-tier institution in India. It ranks among the top medical colleges- quite often in top 5 along with AIIMS Delhi and CMC Vellore-in NIRF rankings for medical education. It is known for excellent faculty, high-end facilities and an exclusive feature of military training. The college offers highly trained doctors and specialists for service in the armed forces, with solid entry into AFMC through NEET and plus other screening systems. So, the infrastructure, research output and placement in military healthcare make it Tier 1 for sure. If one compares it to Tier 2 colleges, which may under similar conditions not possess this much clout or often resources, he or she would find AFMC as one of the few best elite institutions.

For BMLT students of the Armed Forces Medical College, the "the highest package" means a military salary compared to civilian packages. The Armed Forces Medical College's BMLT is rolled under the Bachelor of Paramedical Technology programme, which trains the students for the armed forces. Thereafter, members are posted as technical staff with pay grades starting from Level 6-7 under the 7th CPC-that is, about INR 35,000-50,000 month (4.2-6 LPA) including allowances. In rare civilian transitions, one can reach about 8-10 LPA in private diagnostics or hospitals after experience. There are no exact figures for 2023, but the military has pegged higher salaries to its ceiling limits than those prevailing in the corporate world.

The cutoff for the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) has not yet been released for 2025. However, the college follows a unique admission process where the NEET scores are used to determine eligibility, but candidates must also pass additional assessments, including psychological tests and interviews. For reference, the previous year's cutoff for 2024 was set at 681 out of 720 for female candidates and 666 out of 720 for male candidates. This cutoff was revised later in August 2024 to 675 for females and 656 for males due to a low number of reporting candidates during the screening process.

To get admission into Armed Forces Medical College for the Master of Dental Sciences degree is to go through a proper procedure. One-year compulsory rotatory internship training begins only after completing a 5-year BDS course from a recognised university. The primary screening for admission is a NEET MDS score; that is a national-level examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations. After getting a good rank, usually within the top 1000, an applicant shall apply through the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services once the vacancies in the Army Dental Corps are announced around May. The next step consists of the interview in New Delhi for selected candidates based on merit and suitability, along with a medical fitness test at the concerned military hospitals. The final selected candidates will be inducted into the Short Service Commission and can choose to be inducted into the Permanent Commission afterward.

The B.Sc nursing fee at armed forces medical college is hardly nominal owing to its military affiliation. Tuition is free as the programme is sponsored by the Ministry of Defence; so there are pathetic sums of annual fees-in the region of rupees two fifty to five hundred-bearing registration and administrative expenses.Other than that, there is a caution deposit that is refundable and is probably between Rs 10,000-15,000. All of the hostel and mess charges are met with; every student gets a stipend (about Rs 15,000-20,000 monthly )during training. After graduation, the candidate joins the Military Nursing Service, compensating the cost by mandatory service.
