B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science - Batch of 2027

It has supportive faculty, a peaceful campus, and a scope to grow.
Placements: Around 60% of students get placed in this course. I don't know exactly to be honest. Students get placed in government, public policy, non-profit, and media companies. 30% of students got internships. Roles like a lawyer, advocating and campaigning for political and social cases, government services, property, and paperwork are offered here.
Infrastructure: The political science department at our college has the basic but functional infrastructure to support academic activities. The old classrooms are traditional and the new classrooms are modern and they have big screens and everything. There are 3-4 hostels for both boys and girls, a gym for both. It has a sports court and fields to play.
Faculty: Teachers are pretty good. They are strict and they try their best to explain. They explain in 2-3 languages for us and they use simple words. Exams are too difficult and if we fail in college tests or internal exams, then we fail and we can't pass. If we want to pass, we have to attend every class every day, and we have to study hard. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I used to hate this subject but after attending some of the classes I like studying about all of this stuff like public administration and international relations.

I advise opting for this course. This college has a reputation among affiliate colleges under GU.
Placements: About 4-5% of students choose this course. The salary package offer depends upon the students in which profession they will choose. Students get placed in many software companies, hardware companies and study centres. About 70-80% of the students from our course got an internship. The role offered in our course is a teacher.
Infrastructure: The department of our college is very good. It contains highly improved labs, Wi-Fi connectivity, digital classrooms and a very good library. The hostel facility is good. The food provided is healthy. There is a canteen also. Medical facilities and sports are very good in this institution.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful. All the teachers are PhD holders from reputed colleges and universities. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are hard. The pass percentage of the students is 70-80%.
Other: I have chosen this course because I am very passionate about this course. The practical teaching should be more improved in our course.

There is greenery everywhere, a hopeful journey ahead.
Placements: I am in 2nd semester I have not reached the placement stage yet since this is a general B.A. course under GU. Till now, I don't have any personal experience because we are still in the early stage of the degree. There hasn't been any interaction with recruitment. Once we get our major and move closer to graduation, opportunities like internships and training might come up.
Infrastructure: Goalpara College has decent facilities for B.A. students. The classrooms are clean and there's a center of useful books and a reading area for quiet study and also Wi-Fi works everywhere near the office library and canteen. The campus is green and open which makes it good. I stay in a lodge I don't stay in a hostel. The college has canteens where we get snacks and meals at a low price. We also have a big playground where we can play any sport and for medical facilities for serious problems, students go to nearby clinics.
Faculty: Teachers are very supportive and also strict, but good. They are qualified and guide us well with notes and explanations if you attend classes, it becomes easier to understand every topic and every subject. It's helpful for understanding better but it's not industry-specific, industry readiness comes from more skill-based training or higher studies not from this level alone. Semester exams are too hard but for those who don't study.
Other: It just gives us time to explore different things. I hope the college introduces more digital facilities and workshops, cultural events, competitions, and college week activities to make the campus vibrant. The crowd is friendly and the college is well-connected and safe. There are various scholarships available like SC/ST/OBC.

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Botany - Batch of 2023

If anyone wants to pass or want to get a degree, they can take admission.
Placements: There are no placements, but you can go for higher studies. Especially in the botany department, there is a field trip every year, and teachers take all the major students to new places. The college is affiliated with Gauhati University. You can do a bachelor's degree in science, arts and commerce too, which is fun.
Infrastructure: The canteen is good, but there are no medical facilities. There are a big football ground, a basketball court and a badminton court. Classrooms are poor in both science and art blocks, and the bathrooms are also not clean. Old hostels are not renewed for years.
Faculty: The course I have chosen is research-oriented. If you are willing to do higher studies, then you can apply for M.Sc in botany, M.Sc in microbiology, M.Sc in biotechnology, etc. Teachers are highly qualified. Especially in our botany department, teachers are helpful and active.
Other: The campus is not that big, but it looks pretty. The college is in the main town of Goalpara city. Scholarships are provided to students, but the college needs a lot of improvement. There is only one event every year, i.e., college week.

Review of Goalpara College.
Placements: About 20% of the students got placed in our course. It is a government college, so there is no salary package system in our course. There is no recruitment by private companies. None of the students got an internship from our course. Roles are not offered to anybody from any companies.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are good enough to study, but the washrooms are dirty. Library facilities are poor, and labs are less developed. There is no hostel facility at our college. Students come from far away stay at PG, or they travel long distance daily. There is no mess and canteen, and medical facilities are poor. Sports and games are good enough in our college.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable, but their teaching skills are poor. Teachers are helpful sometimes. There are many types of curriculum activities in our college, but all of them are worthless. The future of each student is in their own hand.
Other: I have chosen this course because I am good at it. Everything needs to be improved. There are lots of events like Saraswati Puja, freshers event, Independence day celebration, etc.

B.A. (Hons.) in English - Batch of 2027

The college has supportive faculty, but limited facilities and career exposure.
Placements: I am a 4th semester English Honours student at Goalpara College. Around 40-50% of students get internships, mostly through NGOs or local educational organizations. There are no placement packages offered, as the focus is academic. Top roles include content writing, teaching, and research assistance.
Infrastructure: Our English department has decent classrooms, access to the central library, and basic Wi-Fi. The hostel has great facilities, food is manageable but not great. Medical help is available nearby. Sports events happen, but not very active. Overall, the facilities are okay but can be improved.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching techniques are also good. The curriculum is more academic than job-oriented, so it's not fully industry-ready. Semester exams are moderately difficult. The pass percentage is usually 60-70% with regular study.
Other: I chose this course because I love literature and the English language. The best part is learning from passionate teachers. I wish we had more practical exposure and digital resources. The campus crowd is good and friendly, and events happen but not very regularly. The college offers scholarships, and connectivity is fair. Extracurricular activities exist, but need more attention.
