B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2025

My college is so great, and gave me the opportunity to get introduced to the life of engineering.
Placements: Approximately 80% student were placed in my course. The highest package was 4.5 LPA, the average was 3 LPA, and the lowest was 1.7 LPA. The top recruits were Grupo Antolin Chakan Pvt Ltd and Sarda Motors. 50% of students got internships from Tata Power. The top role was quality inspector and operations.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, and the library were available for 24 hours. The hostel facility and food were too healthy and good, and emergency medicine was available in the college and hostel. Sports and games tools were also available. Annual sports were arranged every year to keep the students active.
Faculty: Teachers were too helpful in times of difficulty, and they were highly qualified and knowledgeable. The course curriculum makes the students industry-ready. Semester examinations are moderate level, and almost 89% were passed. Every teacher of every branch helped us to expand our knowledge with the practical guide.
Other: I chose the course because I love machines and mathematics. Much of the practical knowledge makes my course improve. Many events happen every year, fest also arrange from student of the college. SVMCM scholarship and OASIS scholarship are provided by merit.

Absolutely dissatisfied with this college, don't come to this college if possible.
Placements: Mainly, textile technology department students are placed. Textile has the highest salary, 18 LPA, and the lowest is 1.5 LPA. Mainly textile-related companies are coming. No, IT companies have come in recent years. Textile students have an internship opportunity. The other branch internship was obtained from off-campus.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was okay. I am not a hosteler, that's why I cannot tell. In the hostel, senior-junior relationships are good enough, ragging-free. But not much capacity to provide a hostel for all students, so you stay in a PG or a mess around the college area.
Faculty: Faculty was good and educated enough, but not focused on placement, only academics, some faculty are arrogant. Our main problem was that we didn't have a principal. OIC takes the power. He was not aware of the students, a total fraud. College was downward push each year.
Other: Because I am a NEET failure and under family pressure, I was admitted to this college.

Best in atmosphere and culture. Average in placements and studies.
Placements: This year around 40%-50% of students only got placed on campus. The package for this course has been around 2.2 LPA being the lowest and 5 LPA being the highest. NexGen has been the top recruiting company this year. This year 10% of students from course got internships and that too of small startups. Top roles offered this year would be business analyst.
Infrastructure: Department provides very less facilities, as, for computer science, not enough technology is provided for us to learn. Wi-Fi is the only stable thing, classrooms have more than 80 seating arrangements. Library offers a wide variety of books. Hostel facilities are too bad, food service is quite maintained, and medical facilities are quite good as we have a great connection with the medical college nearby. Hostel looks after sports and games more than anything.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified but they have lost the knack for teaching, some teachers are not helpful at all, and some teachers are quite helpful. Quality teaching is missing here. I haven't found course curriculum to be relevant other than appearing for master's or placement interviews. The curriculum doesn't make us industry-ready at all. Semester exams are difficult to be honest. Pass percentage varies from 60%-80%.
Other: I always had this knack for computers so I chose this course. The course provides a wide range of markets and industries. Our college organized the biggest puja in the district, our annual fests are grandly celebrated. Campus crowd will tell you that everyone is connected to this college, here we make great bonds with seniors, juniors, batchmates, and even teachers. Extracurricular activities like drawing, singing, music, and dance are organized by each club. Anyone opting for a scholarship like SVMCM would get Rs. 60,000 per year for 4 years.

Our college is worth the money paid.
Placements: The placement rate is not very good. Trident, Arodek, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, etc., visit our college.
Infrastructure: All labs are air-conditioned and good. They have all the equipment. Our college has a common room for indoor games. It has an auditorium, a canteen, etc. The boys' hostel is not in our college. Its fee is Rs. 2,000 per month. It is around 1.5-2 km away from our college. There is a mess. It provides single occupancy rooms. The transport facility is available in our college.
Faculty: Faculty members are good. Most of them are helpful. We have to study ourselves. We must not rely upon college studies. The syllabus is not up to date. The syllabus is set by MAKAUT.
Other: Our college conducts a lot of fests and functions. Our course fee is Rs. 6,000 per semester. It is good.

A huge library is available in our college. The hostels are very good and huge. The food served in the hostel is good compared to other hostels.

A decent college if you want to do B.Tech. at around INR 52,000.
Placements: In 2022, more than 50 percent got recruited, and this is also nearly the average recruitment every year from the computer science division. Unfortunately, placements are not very convincing and depend entirely on a student's credit and skills. If you are qualified, of course you will get a job; nothing comes without hard work. Average package offered in 2022 was around INR 3 LPA, the highest package was INR 10 LPA. The main recruiting companies in our college are IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Oracle, Cognizant, HCL, Hitachi, Voltas, Dystar, L&T Infotech, etc. Nearly 75 percent of the students get internships every year from their third year on. The top jobs offered are software engineering, web development, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi services are available in colleges. The labs are in average working condition; do not expect to pursue a B.Tech. from here without your own personal computer (preferably a laptop). Classrooms are in good condition with whiteboard facilities (2nd year onwards). The college library has loads of books to refer to for different core and side courses. The hostel is in very good condition. However, you get hostel facilities only in your second year, and there is no hostel facility for girls. Food is cheap and affordable. Medical and emergency facilities are managed by the staff. Annual sports and games are held on hostel grounds, along with occasional recreational games.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Teachers are strict in their domain for the good of the students. If you can follow your teachers' guidance and excel in your core subjects, you will surely be qualified for a job. Our college is affiliated with Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), which is a good and reputed university. So yes, the course curriculum is obviously relevant. Semester exams, and also the mid-semester exams, are set by our university, and they are around average to hard level, mainly depending on who sets the questions and how they are selected from the university.
Other: I personally prefer the B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering course because computer science is the future. Day by day, we are witnessing the growth and expansion of this field in different aspects. So I think, the knowledge of computer science is important enough to master. Our college provides decent facilities to get a B.Tech degree in CSE, but I would still recommend improvement of labs and other infrastructure, and seasonal brainstorming with innovative ideas for students as a part of the curriculum. For example, tech fest, innovative projects, etc. Loads of events are held in our college, drawing crowds like moths to fire. Saraswati Puja, is one of the biggest events held annually. There is also the college fest Alfresco, a very important event. The only sad part is that students have to pay huge subscription fees to promote these events.

Review of Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore.
Placements: Students from our department who are a bit serious about getting a job, one way or the other, should find some path to get at least a job. Around 90% to 95% of students get jobs. The highest salary package offered till now is 7 LPA to 8 LPA, which is off-campus.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not good. After COVID, classrooms are good with fans and air conditioners, but for the lab facility, you've got to rely on your own laptop. The government has spent crores of rupees on Wi-Fi, but you have to use your mobile hotspot while you work on your laptop in college. The library also consists of 20-year-old books of no use. As technology is changing every day, our library doesn't have any books from recent years. Every room is quite spacious with 2 or 3 beds, a wardrobe, a chair, a table, and multiple fans. The condition of the rooms is good according to government college standards.
Faculty: Our course curriculum is very good, but good teachers are needed to make students understand a topic. If you're someone who wishes to be taught by some of the great faculty members and build great knowledge, GCETTB is certainly not a place for you. Our HOD and placement officer are not good. I was recently selected for an interview at a good company and was the only one in our college to get selected for the final interview. Because of the negligence of our placement officer, I did not receive the interview call letter.
Other: I chose this course only for the purpose of getting a job in the IT field. I was in Textile Technology in my first year and eventually changed it to Computer Science and Engineering due to my lack of interest in that subject. The mechanical and electrical departments are not good here. For jobs, you've got to work hard yourself and don't expect any help from your faculty members. We need 75% attendance. You can only come here if you don't have money, a good rank, and can get your engineering done at a low cost. Otherwise, I'd encourage you to make connections with seniors and classmates. If you're a smart person or want some good placements with good campus life, do not join here.

Faculty members and the seniors are perk of the college.
Placements: As per the last year, the placement of CSE was above average. A lot of pool campus as well as on campus happened. MNC like Cognizant hired for GenC, GenC elevate, GenC Pro and GenC Next roles. In off campus people got placed in IBM, Infosys, Persistent as well as some start ups also. If you are serious enough and learn things properly, with the help of the faculty and seniors you can ace the placements.
Infrastructure: The computers of some of the labs are slow and not working properly (due to the long time not using it properly during the lockdown). People use to carry their own laptops in the labs. The classrooms are modern with projectors facility, proper bathrooms are in the college. The internet speed in the lab is horrible. Hostel is a good place to be for fun of the college life. They organise a lot of fun activities also the hostel charges are very low, the food of the hostel is also good and they organise a lot of sporting events specially volleyballs.
Faculty: One thing that is great about the college is the faculty of CSE. They teach and know very well. If you show interest then they have time to teach you even advanced parts. But yes, there is one faculty in CSE who does not take classes even after talking to the Officer in Charge. The course curriculum is relevant as it is one of the most wanted degree for the it industry. Also the exam cell of the college is very much active they take the exams seriously. The semester exams are conducted by the MAKAUT, but yes it is easy to pass .
Other: The seniors are the most helpful persons in the college. So make a bond with them.
