Best government college for Electrical Engineering with low fees and good practical learning.

Placements: In Electrical Engineering, 30–35% of students get placed through campus placements. The highest package is 2.4 LPA. The lowest is around 1.2 LPA. The average is around 1.5 LPA. Companies are mostly local industries from Siliguri and Durgapur. They mainly include electrical maintenance and manufacturing firms. For internships, 100% of students get them in the 5th semester. It is compulsory. Students get internships at WBSEDCL substations and local workshops. Top roles are Junior Engineer Trainee, Electrical Technician, & Maintenance Supervisor. Overall, placement is average. You need to try off-campus too.

Infrastructure: For our Electrical department, facilities are quite good. We have separate labs for machines, power systems, measurement, and basic electrical. They have all major equipment like motors, transformers, and panels for practicals. Classrooms are big and airy. The library has all required books like Theraja and Gupta. Wi-Fi is available on the campus. The hostel is inside the campus. It has decent rooms and 24-hour water and electricity. Mess food is average but hygienic. The canteen is small but okay. Medical facilities are available nearby. We also have a playground for sports and games. Overall, the infrastructure is good.

Faculty: Teachers of the Electrical department are very helpful. They are qualified and knowledgeable. Most are permanent faculty with good experience. They explain concepts clearly with practical examples, not just theory. Teaching quality is good. They help us anytime with doubts and projects. The curriculum is as per WBSCTE and is quite relevant. It covers basics to advanced machines and power systems. This makes us ready for fieldwork and JELET. Semester exams are moderate. They are not too tough if you attend classes and labs regularly. The pass percentage is high. Almost 85–90% of students pass easily.

Other: I am from the Diploma in Electrical Engineering batch 2025–2028 at Government Polytechnic Alipurduar. I chose this course because I have an interest in electrical machines & power systems from the beginning. I also want a government college with low fees. The best thing about our course is strong practical learning and supportive teachers. Things that can be improved are more modern equipment in labs and more companies for placement. Campus surroundings are very green. They are peaceful and near forest. Connectivity is okay. We get all government scholarships like SVMCM and OASIS. Events like Vishwakarma Puja, freshers, sports, and tech fest happen every year.

This college is very good for engineering students. Industrial visits are also available here.

Placements: This college is very good and even better. Here we can make new friends. Placements are very sensitive. All the department students are very good. The college campus is good and clean. The college has a dress code. Computer Science is the best course in engineering.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available. Labs are clear and fresh. We get regular lab classes. Classrooms are also in good condition. The library is a place where we study sometimes, and all books are available. The hostel food is awesome. Canteen food quality is good. A medical facility is available. Annual sports are organised.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They all are qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is awesome. The course curriculum is relevant, and it also makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are very difficult, and all teachers are very strict and also use CCTV cameras. The pass percentage is above 60-90%.
