Hailakandi Polytechnic is a government institute.
Placements: Since Hailakandi Polytechnic is a new college, full placement states aren't available yet. Very few students from the first batch got placed. The placement percentage is less than 10% so far. There is no official data on the highest or average packages. Some students got small jobs in local industries. Internships are also limited, and only a few students get chances in small private firms or through personal contacts. No big recruiting companies have come yet. The most common roles offered are technician-level or assistant in local projects.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities are basic. Rooms are shared and provided with essential facilities like beds, fans, and common washrooms. Cleanliness is maintained to an acceptable level, and electricity is generally a table. The mess food is average and simple but hygienic. The menu is repetitive, but the quality is manageable. There is no dedicated canteen yet, but some local food stalls are nearby. Medical facilities are minimal. There is a first-aid kit available, and in case of any emergency, students are taken to the nearby government hospital. Sports facilities are available.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful and try their best, but not all are experienced. The teaching quality is average. The course follows the DTE Assam syllabus, which is okay but not fully industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate in difficulty level, neither too tough nor too easy. Most students pass if they attend classes and study regularly. The pass percentage is around 70-80%.

Diploma in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2024

Placement facilities are not very good.
Placements: There is a very low rate of placement in our college. We are the 2nd batch of the college, so let's see how our batch performs. 40 to 50% of the students got internships from our course. Especially, all the Computer Science and Engineering department had done it very responsibly.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good, but there was no Wi-Fi facility. Labs were not well maintained. There is no hostel in our college; it was just established a few years earlier. There are plans to build a hostel, so let's see how it turns out and what facilities and quality of food will be available.
Faculty: Yes, our teachers were helpful, qualified, and very kind by nature. Their teaching quality was perfect—very easy to understand and interesting to listen to. End-semester exams were not too tough; I felt they were easy for me. However, I feel the course is not relevant.
Other: I have chosen the course because have an interest in computer from my childhood.
