A structured and systematic effort for placements and training are made at IIIT Sro City with the group of faculty members, staff, and students under the leadership of the Director. The placement Cell create awareness about “career planning" and "career mapping" among the students. It trains the students in various areas like Personality Development, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Verbal reasoning, Group Discussion techniques, etc.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Sri City is a public-private institute. It was established in 2013 and new institute among the 19 new IIITs. IIIT Sri City has three departments, including Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronics and Communication Engineering that collectively offer a full-time UGC-approved BTech programme.

IIIT Sri City shifted to a new campus in 2018. The classroom infrastructure includes a total of 15 fully air conditioned classrooms that are equipped with several modern audio visual aids. The college classrooms are enabled with several lecture capturing tools. The college has two research centres, Centre for Smart Cities (CSC) and Ministry of Education initiated Design and Innovation Centre (DIC).
