Admission Criteria for B.S. in Statistics and Data Science at IIT Kanpur (for reserved category students): 1. Entrance Exam: Admission is through JEE Advanced. You first need to qualify JEE Main, then appear for JEE Advanced.  2. Eligibility: Students must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Minimum percentage requirements (for JEE eligibility) are relaxed for reserved categories (SC/ST/PwD).  3. Reservation Benefits: As per Government of India rules, seats are reserved for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PwD categories. The cut-off ranks in JEE Advanced are lower for these categories compared to the General category.  4. JoSAA Counselling: After qualifying JEE Advanced, candidates must participate in JoSAA counselling, where seat allocation is done based on rank, category, and preference.  5. Relaxation in Cut-off: Reserved category candidates get relaxation in both qualifying marks and opening–closing ranks for admission into IIT Kanpur.   

For the General AI quota, the JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 for B.Tech admission ranged between 792 and 10727 in the final round. For students belonging to the EWS category, the closing ranks were between 118 and 1661 for B.Tech admission in the last round. Considering the cutoff range, it is evident that the EWS category had competitive cutoff ranks for admission as compared to the General category students.
