JAM 2025 Eligibility Criteria
IIT JAM 2025 exam will be conducted on February 2, 2025 to provide admissions to MSc degree programmes for around 3000 seats in postgraduate programmes at 21 IITs for the academic year 2025-26. To appear for JAM 2025 exam, a candidates need to fulfil the IIT JAM eligibility criteria 2025. The eligibility criteria stipulate minimum qualifications, typically a bachelor's degree with a specified percentage of marks or equivalent qualifying exams. JAM 2025 application process started on September 3, 2024 on the official website. Before filling out the registration form candidates are advised to check out the JAM eligibility criteria 2025 so that they don't lose their candidature at any stage in the IIT JAM admission process 2025. The last date for filling out the JAM application from 2025 is October 11, 2024. It's important to note that while the core JAM eligibility criteria 2025 set a national benchmark, individual universities can define additional program-specific requirements. - In order to fulfil the IIT JAM 2025 eligibility criteria, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Candidates who had appeared or will appear for their graduation exams in 2025 are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the proof by September 2025.

Till the year 2021, the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM stated that candidates should secure a minimum 55 per cent aggregate or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates and 50 per cent aggregate or 5.0 CGPA/CPI for the reserved category candidates. However, from 2022 onwards, this criterion was relaxed. Now, applicants will have to get a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, and no eligibility cutoff is there. Q: How much GATE score is required for M.Tech in IIT Guwahati?
Admission to M.Tech at IITG is entirely based on GATE score. Candidates with a GATE rank between 600 and 800 and a score between 400 and 800 will have a good chance for getting admitted in an MTech course at IITG. However, as the cutoff marks change for every admission year, hence, the number can vary. A relaxation in the required cutoff is given to the candidates belonging to reserved categories.
Q: Can we join IIT Madras without JEE?
Yes, there are many other courses for which the selection criteria are different and the prescribed entrance exam is also other than JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. Below are some of the courses offered at IIT Madras along with their eligibility criteria and entrance exam:
- MTech: IIT Madras offers a two-year full-time M.Tech programme across various specialisations. The institute inducts candidates for the M.Tech programmes based on valid GATE scores followed by the counselling process.
- MBA: For admission to the full-time two year MBA programme at IIT Madras, candidates are required to appear for the CAT exam. Candidates based on their CAT scores will be shortlisted for the Group Discussion & Personal Interview (PI) round.
- MSc: IIT Madras accepts admission to the MSc programme based on a valid score/ rank in the IIT-JAM exam.
Q: Is GATE required for PhD in IIT Bombay?
GATE is one of the entrance exams for PhD admission. However, aspirants can also get admission in PhD based on CSIR NET/ CEED/ UGC NET or written test conducted by the institute. The shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview round for final selection. Along with GATE score, candidates also need to fulfil the eligibiltiy requirements. Aspirants must complete Bachelor or Masters or equivalent degree in Engineering/ Technology or master's or equivalent degree in Science or Arts/ Commerce with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD category) for PhD admission.
Besides the proof for minimum educational qualification, candidates also need to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admissions. Candidates found unfit to pursue his/her Science course can be denied admission by the admitting institute.

IIT Madras BTech cutoff 2024 has been released across multiple specialisations. Based on the Round 1 seat allotment, to get into IIT Madras, the candidates must score between 159 and, 9912 for the General AII India category. In addition to that, For getting into BTech in CSE, the candidates must have a rank upto 159. Also, CSE is the most competitive specialisation at IIT Madras. So, considering the round 1 cutoff, candidates seeking admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras must secure a maximum rank upto 9912.

Regarding the IIT JAM 2025 eligibility criteria, IIT Madras has stated, "At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. The admitted candidates may also have to undergo a Physical Fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. Admission is liable to be cancelled if a candidate is found physically unfit to pursue their chosen course of study."
