IIM Sambalpur has three hostel buildings, two for boys and one for girls. The rooms are provided to the students of IIM Sambalpur on a twin-sharing basis. The campus is wifi enabled. For the purpose of students' leisure activities, each hostel has its own common room where televisions and table tennis equipment are installed.

At the moment, there is no provision for married students, which means they can't live in a hotel with their families. For students, staying at the dormitory is mandatory. In each dorm, essential equipment such as a washing machine, refrigerator, and TV are available.

IIM Sambalpur offers courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels. The institute offers MBA, Executive MBA and MBA for Working Professionals at PG level. At UG level, aspirants have an option to pursue four-year BS course. The institute also offers PhD and PhD for Working Professionals courses. MBA is a two-year full-time residential flagship course of IIM Sambalpur.

Yes, IIM Sambalpur reserves seats for SC, ST, OBC and other reserved category candidates. The institute follows reservation policy of Government of India. Check below the category-wise reservation:

Students have to register for CAT to apply for MBA at IIM Sambalpur. Further, students selected for PI round get an email to complete the IIM Sambalpur application form for MBA. For all other courses, aspirants need to apply on the institute's website.

IIM Sambalpur provides good placement support to students. The college is visited by top companies for placements like Accenture, Amazon, KPMG, etc. The average & median packages received by the MBA batch of 2023-25 was INR 15.65 LPA & INR 15.02 LPA.

IIM Sambalpur admission is a three-stage process. The selection is based on CAT, pre-personal interview shortlisting, personal interview and final merit list. Candidates are selected based on the pre-determined sectional and overall CAT cutoff percentile. 

Aspirants are selected for the Pre-PI round. The Pre-PI Score is calculated out of 80. It is determined for MBA by considering below parameters:

• Graduation = 4

Aspirants need a minimum of three-years of post qualification managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience to apply for Executive MBA course at IIM Sambalpur. Candidates must also complete bachelor's degree to apply for this course.

Aspirants must complete bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC, ST and PwD) to apply for MBA programme at IIM Sambalpur. Aspirants also need a minimum of 1 year of post qualification professional experience for MBA in BA. Candidates also need to pass CAT with a good percentile for admission in MBA.

In case of withdrawal of MBA admission, IIM Sambalpur refunds fee to aspirants after deduction of INR 1,000 as processing charges. Students have to send their refund request to admission office by the stipulated date. 

In case no. of candidates accepting admission offer exceed planned intake, refund is then processed on first-come-first-serve basis. No refund request is entertained if no. of candidates accepting admission offer is less than or equal to the planned intake for the year.

If a aspirant wants to withdraw from MBA programme on or after programme registration date but before term-1 classes start date, refund request is only considered if there are more registered aspirants than planned intake. In this case, amount paid by student is refunded after deduction of withdrawal amount of INR 50,00, which includes the paid caution money.

IIM Sambalpur PhD Admission process consists of four stages:

1. Shortlisting Candidate for the Personal Interview Round on the basis of CAT/ GRE/GATE/GMAT/JRF (UGC/CSIR)/ IIMSAT Scorecard
2. Personal Interview Round
3. Preparation of Merit List based for final Admission offers on the performance of the candidate in the PI Round and other Admission Criteria 

Alumni of IIMs or any University or Institute in NIRF Top 50 ranking list are exempted from taking the entrance test.

Part-time/ Distance Learning / evening/ weekend programmes are not considered for the exemption.

IIM Sambalpur MBA admission is entirely entrance-based. Students seeking to apply for the programme must appear for the accepted entrance exam. Aspirants need to appear and secure a valid score in CAT.  Students who qualify the CAT cutoff for IIM Sambalpur need to participate in the further selection rounds. For a successful admission, prepare well for the entrance exams. Attempt as many CAT mock tests as possible, read the CAT Syllabus well, and timely register for the exam.

IIM Sambalpur fee includes tuition fee, refundable caution deposit and other components. The other fees component comprises of Career Development Services, SAC Activity charges and Alumni charge. These components are to be paid only in Term-1 and Term-4.

Students shortlisted in stage-1 based on their CAT score receive an email to complete the IIM Sambalpur application form. A Pre-PI score is calculated out of 75 as follows:

• CAT score-40
• Class 10-3
• Class 12-3
• Graduation-4
• Work Experience-20
• STEM Academic Background-10

Aspirants have to first pass CAT for selection. Candidates need to score equal or above the qualifying cutoff to get selected for PI round.  Students also have to apply on the institute's website via link they receive on mail. The institute also considers academic performance, work experience and gender diversity for final selection. Once the seat is alloted, aspirants need to confirm their seat by paying the course fees.
