The IISER application form 2026 for the entrance exam will tentatively be released in the second week of March 2026 for admission to 4-year BS and 5-year Integrated BS-MS courses.
IISER Mohali BS-MS Eligibility & Highlights 2024
IISER BS-MS is a (dual degree) course and it is a flagship programme offered for five years in four specialisations. IISER BS MS Admission to is through three channels- KVPY, SCB and JEE Advanced. Additionally, the institute also accepts the IISER aptitude test for admission to BS-MS courses. Candidates can apply through more than one channel. Admission to the course is usually done in June-July each year.
Eligibility: Candidates must have completed Class 12 or equivalent level exam with Science stream from any board recognised by the Council of Boards School Education in India (COBSE) with at least 60% aggregate or equivalent (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD) to apply for BS-MS (dual degree) programme. Additionally, aspirants must be an Indian national or PIO or OCI to apply for admission.
IISER BS-MS courses are available in four specialisations i.e., BS MS in Biological Science, BS MS Physical Sciences, BS MS in Mathematical Science and BS MS in Chemical Science. The total seat intake for these courses is 244. The institute also provides 6-8 weeks of research programme, within the duration of the course.
Note: The above seat intake is tentative. A maximum of 25% of the seats will be allocated through KVPY and JEE Advanced channels. The remaining seats will be filled through the SCB channel based on the merit in the IISER Aptitude Test. Unfilled seats from KVPY and JEE channels, if any, will also be added to the SCB channel for allotment.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana scholars admitted to IISERs will draw fellowships as per KVPY norms. In addition, the Department of Science and Technology provides a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships of INR 5000/- per month to candidates admitted through JEE and SCB channels, upon fulfilling the criteria set by DST. Students admitted to the BS-MS programme in Engineering or Economics are not entitled to the scholarship.
Students admitted through the KVPY channel will be eligible for IISER BS-MS scholarships as per KVPY norms. Students admitted through IIT-JEE (Advanced) and SCB channels will be eligible for a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships as per the norms of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. BS-MS students at IISER can avail the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana scholarship a National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Department of Science and Technology has decided to subsume KVPY with Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE). The students in the BS-MS programme at IISER Mohali receive the INSPIRE or KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) fellowship as long as they perform well. IISER Mohali placements are conducted by the placement cell of the college basically for BS and MS dual degree programme. The opportunity cell or the placement cell provide proper guidance and prepare its students fot the Interviews conducted by the companies visitng the campus. Additionally, it also provides summer and winter internships for students. Last year the median salary package is INR 8 LPA for BS and MS student. The placement rating of IISER Mohali is 3.3 from the 35 verified students from the IISER Mohali. IISER Mohali doesn't provide a BSc course, the institute only offers admission to BS-MS dual programme. For admissions in IISER Mohali candidates have to appear either in the JEE advanced exam, KVPY exam or SCB exam.
