There are a total of seven IISER institutes in India which provide admissions to the research-based courses at UG, PG and Phd Level. Established by the Government of India, the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) are considered to be the premier research institutes in the country. Declared 'Institutes of National Importance' by the Parliament in 2012, IISERs offer courses such as BS-MS, integrated PhD and PhD to aspirants.

At IISERs, students can secure admission in programmes such as Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Data Science, Earth & Climate Sciences/Earth & Environmental Sciences, Economic Sciences, Engineering Sciences (Chemical Engineering, Data Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science), Geological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. Candidates need to note that Engineering Sciences and Economic Sciences courses are offered at IISER Bhopal only.
IISER Berhampur BSc admission is entrance-based. The admissions process in all IISERs is managed by the Joint Admissions Committee, headed by a Chairman and having members from all IISERs. Given below is the admission process for IISER Berhampur BSc:
Step 1: IISER Berhampur BSc Application Process
Candidates must apply online through the official admission portal of IISER, provide all the necessary details, upload photograph and signature and pay the IISER Berhampur BSc application fee of INR 200.
Step 2: IISER Berhampur BSc Selection Criteria
Candidates can opt for any of the three channels for admission to BSc at IISER Berhampur or can apply through any one or two or all of the three channels given below:
KVPY Channel: The KVPY-SA students who have received the provisional KVPY fellowship award are eligible to apply.
JEE (Advanced): Candidates should have a rank within 15,000 in the common rank list or the respective category rank lists.
IISER Aptitude Test (IAT): Candidates are required to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test
Candidates seeking admission through KVPY Channel or JEE Advanced do not have to appear for IAT.
Step 3: IISER Berhampur BSc Admission
Candidates whose names appears on the final merit list are further called to complete the admission formalities and are required to pay IISER Berhampur BSc fees.
Yes, admission in IISER Thiruvanthapuram is based on both entrance and merit-based. Applicants are admitted to the BS-MS programme through Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), JEE Advanced and SCB channels. You also need to score minimum 60% in 12th Science for resereved category. So, if you fulfill it you will easily get admission.

How to Get Admission in IISERs?
Candidates who wish to take admission in the bachelor's degree need to appear for the IAT exam/ IISER 2025. The IAT exam for the academic session 2025-2026 was conducted on May 25, 2025 at various exam centres across the nation. Candidates who had appeared in the examination to secure their seat in the IISERs needed to appear in the IISER 2025 counselling process. Based on the marks scored by the candidates, AIR achieved by them and the number of registrations made for the IISER 2025 online counselling registration process, the exam officials will then release the IISER entrance exam 2025 First round of counselling/admission for the candidates taking admissions to the BS-MS dual degree and BS degree programme.

Aspirants can secure admission in any of the IISERs on the basis of their performance in the IISER Entrance Exam. The science entrance exam is usually conducted in the month of May every year. IISER exam is of three hours duration and consists of questions from four subjects:
IISER Pune offers an MSc course for the duration of two years and offers an integrated BSc + MSc course for the duration of five years. Moreover, the institute offers four specialsiations in MSc courses, and each specialisation has different eligibility criteria. MSc in Chemistry: Candidates must complete their BSc/ BSc in Chemistry as one of the main subjects with an aggregate of 60% (55% for reserved categories). For admission, the institute accepts IIT JAM scores.
MSc in Earth and Climate Science (Geology): Candidates must have studied Mathematics in Class 12 and must complete a BSc in Geology/ Geological Science/ Geoscience/ Earth Science with Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Statistics with an aggregate of 60% (55% for reserved categories). For admission, the institute accepts IIT JAM Geology scores.
MSc in Mathematics: BSc/ BTech from any specialisation with an aggregate of 60% (55% for reserved categories). The selection to the programme will be based on a two-stage written test conducted by the institute.
MSc in Physics (Quantum Technology): BTech/ BE in Aerospace/ Chemical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Communications/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Mechanical/ Instrumentation/ Engineering Physics or BSc/ MSc/ Integrated BS-MS in Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Materials science/ Electronics/ Instrumentation. Candidates must have IIT JAM 2025 exam with one of the following subject codes: MS, MA, PH. Additionally, GATE exam with subject codes PH, EE, EC, IN, MA, ST, CS, DA.
IISER Berhampur BSc application forms have already been closed for the academic year 2024. IISER Aptitude Test 2024 registrations have already begun on Apr 1 and the IISER Berhampur BSc deadline to fill out the registration form was May 13, 2024.
After the completion of all selection rounds, candidates are required to participate in course-specific counselling sessions. Following this, the institute will release multiple rounds of merit lists, featuring the names of selected candidates. Selected candidates must pay the prescribed fee to secure their admission.
IISER Mohali doesn't provide a BSc course, the institute only offers admission to BS-MS dual programme. For admissions in IISER Mohali candidates have to appear either in the JEE advanced exam, KVPY exam or SCB exam.
